It made no difference for me when I experimented with it. Same with passive bi-amping or vertical bi-amping.
What speakers did you bi-wire previously? I've never tried it and the opinions certainly polarized. It made no difference for me when I experimented with it. Same with passive bi-amping or vertical bi-amping.
Active bi-amping with external active XO’s made a difference, but that’s a whole other topic.

Does the speaker XO play a part in this situation?
@HiFi Guy biwired the klipschs.
I bi amped a pair of Energy's years ago. I thought that the highs might have been improved slightly but it may have just been in my head. It was subtle either wayThe most extensive was a DIY frankenspeaker that I used as a test mule to determine which craziness I liked/hated/found to be of no difference. They were from a GR Research kit. I’ve also tried passive attempts with Energy A3+2’s I used to own, and when I worked in HiFi sales my coworkers and I would try out all kinds of things.
More amps always make sense you can't have too many!Bi-amping makes a lot more sense from a physics standpoint. Even passive - there is more juice headed towards the drivers. Active would be a lot of messing with shit though.
Well in my case it was the same amp, just the Zone 2 outputs could be used to bi amp as they were their own separate discreet amp output.More amps always make sense you can't have too many!
Anyway, I am just curious if a bi wire speaker is legit upgrade or not. Feeding separate power to a 3 way kind of makes sense on paper, but haven't heard it to really know anything.
Gotcha. The AVR trick.Well in my case it was the same amp, just the Zone 2 outputs could be used to bi amp as they were their own separate discreet amp output.

Oooh those MKII's are on my short list with Klipsch Forte IV's (and a couple others). @Mather previously spoke highly of his L100's in a convo, and now the MKII's sound they might edge out the Forte's for me. It sounds like the MKII's have the same "performance package" as the black edition or the Classic 75's (I really wanted those when they came out - beautiful finish - but I wasn't ready to buy as stock started dwindling)? These are coming home.
Crazy good price 2 hours away on USAM.
If a noticable improvement, the MKI will be on the block.

They are identical cabinets.Oooh those MKII's are on my short list with Klipsch Forte IV's (and a couple others). @Mather previously spoke highly of his L100's in a convo, and now the MKII's sound they might edge out the Forte's for me. Do you know if the MkI stands fit the MkII's? On paper the width and depth differences are negligible so they should be usable for the MkII's?
Yes, I've read the specs. I do believe all the part numbers they have for the MkII's are identical to the black editions that came out last year. They are identical cabinets.
Although, the MKII is 5 lbs heavier.
Same stands will be fine.
Hardware is changed throughout.
Here are the hardware differences of the L100 MK II in addition to the golden bi-wire/amp feature:
Dual spider (JW300SW-8)
5.25-inch polymer-coated pure-pulp cone (JM125PC-8) midrange driver
One-inch titanium dome tweeter mated to acoustic lens and waveguide (JT025Ti2-4)
Impedance: 4 ohms
Loudspeaker Sensitivity: 90dB
Frequency Response: 40Hz-40kHz (-6dB)
Crossover Frequency: 450Hz, 3.5kHz
Hardware specs on the original L100 MK I
12-inch (300mm) pure pulp cone woofer (JW300PW-8)
Mid-frequency transducer
5.25-inch (125mm) polymer-coated pure pulp cone (105H-1)
High-frequency transducer
1-inch (25mm) titanium dome with soft surround (JT025TI1-4)
Impedance: 4 Ohms
RMS Sensitivity (2.83V/1m): 90dB
Frequency Response: 40Hz-40kHz (-6dB)
Crossover Frequencies: 450Hz, 2.5kHz
I can't imagine a different size stand.Yes, I've read the specs. I do believe all the part numbers they have for the MkII's are identical to the black editions that came out last year.
I figured the stands would work. Music direct has different HWD for the MkI's and II's but when I say "negligible" I mean NEG-LI-GIBLE (like fractions of an inch) so no reason they shouldn't fit.
Is there any other way? They are doing a superb job communicating the least information possible.
