Talking U2 with you too.

Not digging this. Feels like they had to make a song for a high school/college graduation scene in a made-for-tv movie.

I wasn’t sure what to expect...and came in with low expectations....but....

I don’t think it’s that bad.

Good to hear Bono’s voice, with a youthful “when will the bass drop” feel. #oldvsnew

For me, they could do no wrong until Atomic Bomb. I consider that album the start of their decline. However, that misstep was rectified with No Line (yes, even Boots 😊). It’s far from a great album, but it does have some great songs that salvage the rest. It all went downhill with the next Innocence/Experience.
I actually think those last 2 albums aren't that bad. They're far from their best but they have their moments. I also really liked their last tour because it wasn't a "greatest hits" setlist. They played a couple deep cuts and the Songs of Experience tracks were pretty great live.

Yeah I actually really like Innocence/Experience. They wrote albums based in their deep personal history and it has some very strong songs on them. They def are not re-treading ground.

I feel like U2 is the ultimate "taken for granted until they're gone" band. True that they never recaputured their peak but Jesus, they hit the peak in three consecutive decades. They still put out albums where they are trying new things and they build their tours around the new tracks and let them evolve and grow.

How many bands do that this far into their careers? Most have LONG since become a greatest hits live show revue, hell we are getting bands doing this like four albums in.

When U2 is gone they will be hailed as continually progressing legends, everyone will forget they bitched about them for the last 20 or 30 years

Ha! I forget which film he says that in but I always found it a bit cringy.
Totally cringy. He's said it more than once (I know I've witnessed it live) but I believe the first time was in U2 Go Home at Slane. He says something like 'thank you for queuing in the rain and spending your hard earned cash....'
