I started the Surrender audio book and it is a delight. This is just the kind of book that fits the format. I wonder if the stripped down versions of the songs they use for chapter introductions has anything to do with the re-recorded album.

It looks like it will begin in September '23.

Entering ‘23, U2 is the only one we fell confident about, anticipating 12 shows over six weekends, all Fridays and Saturdays. A caveat emerged in December, as drummer and co-founder Larry Mullen Jr. has said he’s not performing live with the band in ‘23. Still, we would wager U2 is going onstage, with our without him, to borrow a phrase.

I downloaded the tracks from the Achtung Baby 30th Live Subscriber gift today. It actually sounded really good. They did a good job of mixing the live tracks from a bunch of different eras to make it sound like a consistent live album. Kind of disappointing that the only version of "So Cruel" they've ever done is just an acoustic version of the first 2 verses but it is what it is.

Damn. Of course the box set is the obvious choice but not a good week for a $125 pre-order.
 
I wonder if that box set is actually "exclusive" or if it will appear elsewhere. I can't think of a single other U2 release that was only available in their webstore.
