Really enjoyed the final episodes of Rings of Power and Bad Sisters. Will have to find something new to watch now. Or just spin more records, that’s never a bad call.
Yep Bad sisters was a great show , really enjoyed it . and rings of power got better and better

Dahmer is seriously good in a bad way on Netflix

Two shows you might be interested in: I'm just starting High School (based on Tegan and Sara's memoir) and it's pretty great. Also hoping to start The Midnight Club soon.

I finished The Midnight Club yesterday. In terms of Flanagan’s work as a whole, I’d put it near the bottom. I expected a bit more out of it and was kind of disappointed. There are good things about it, some standout episodes / stories. But as a whole season arc it just kind of fell a bit flat.

I’m onto Bly Manor now which I never finished - so I’m starting it from the beginning. It’s also a deliberately paced show like Midnight Mass, but it’s very tonally different. I am familiar with source material and it obviously does a lot of things different. But it seems like a worthy follow up to Hill House, despite the consensus being pretty down on it. The one thing I actually dislike about the show is what it looks like visually. I get the intention I suppose, but it just doesn’t do much for me.

I just watched ep 9 of Bad Sister so need to give myself a couple days before the last ep. Jean Paul character is so toxic I need a good 4-5 days between episodes. His character truly has set the toxic masculinity bar high (or low)

Do sociopaths have or need motivations beyond their own entertainment/amusement?
I started watching Bad Sisters and got two episodes in before I had to call a friend because it hit a bit too close to home. She told me that I shouldn’t watch Bad Sisters right now. I will try to finish it later, like maybe in a year or so.

After two episodes, I can say that it’s a really accurate portrayal of coercive control and the type of person that is capable of it. It’s not about entertainment or amusement, it’s about control and insecurity. The toxic masculinity is just an offshoot of the insecurity. They have to tear down women to make sure that the woman in their lives stays—it’s another way to signal that she is less than which is why she should be thankful that he stays around. But really at the end of the day, they are deeply insecure and end up losing respect for their partner because they stay. Eventually their partner is seen as less than human and only their to meet the needs of the abuser, which is why things only really escalate in these situations, but it’s all grounded in a deep self hate/insecurity.

Same feeling on Midnight Club - I just finished as well. I think it was trying to do too many things with making it a partially a story anthology show and also a story behind those who were telling it. I get that the stories are linked and gives insight into the people telling it but it felt kinda disjointed. Also the ending is a bit anticlimactic with what happens to Julia Jane. Supposedly the show isn't over tho... There's going to be a season 2 but that's a bit weird considering...

In Terms of his shows, Midnight Mass still feels like his masterpiece. I thought it was amazing start to finish. The Haunting shows also were really good. Still looking forward to his upcoming show Fall of the house usher

I agree on Midnight Mass. It was great. I didn't love the Haunting shows, they just didn't capture me. I don't think I finished either, but I think my wife did, so I caught bits. I've only seen the first episode of Midnight Club, not sure if I'll continue.

This morning my wife put on the first episode of The Watcher and it's got a great cast. If the rest of the show keeps up with the first episode I'll be happy.

I was once again reminded of how distant from the MCU fandom I am despite watching most everything that they release when I watched the last two episodes of She-Hulk, thought “That was great”, and then saw a Twitter thread where a bunch of bros on the internet called it the worst thing in the MCU.

Then, I am totally out of touch with the MCU fandom because She Hulk is hands down my favorite thing from the MCU.

Twitter bros are the worst thing in the MCU.
