Television

I'd been really slow burning The Peripheral because of being a huge Gibson fan and really liking the cast. Finally watched the last episode tonight and am looking forward to a rewatch already. They better make another season.

The finale was brilliant. I love that shows like this exists. Watching this right after recently turning 41 really hits home.
It was a fantastic finale.
This a great follow up read. Tons of spoilers for those that are interested but haven't watched it.

I am enjoying Willow way more than I probably should. I really enjoy even the more cheesy aspects of it. I am even okayish with the rock songs at the end. I really enjoy the comical elements that are sprinkled in, like the troll that talks like he’s in middle management. Yes, it’s very predictable but I guess that’s where I am at right now.

I watched the first 4 episodes and I do wish it was little better overall that being said it’s not terrible either I am sure I will finish it off at some point after all the remaining episodes have aired but it’s not something I am excited about.

I stopped after episode 3 for most of the reasons you're okay with it... I just felt like everyone was snarky and quippy and there was no balance. I liked the character of Prince Graydon the most because he seemed the most genuine and least self-centered. A lot of the humour falls flat for me. I think it's the juxtaposition of the dire life or death kingdom ending circumstances... The bad guys are terrifying and I love that, you just can't have ALL your protagonists be lighthearted roguish goofballs. Also, I'm big on immersion. I like deep long form stories with atmospheric intricate settings and sound design, so those rock songs at the end really just RIP me out of it like a phone ringing in a movie theater. I'll probably pick it back up, but it was a big disappointment for me.

I started watching The Owl House on Disney+ and it's been really fun and cute. These cartoons that are more than just visual stimulation and random nonsense to keep kids glued to TV's are refreshing. For fans of Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, and Infinity Train, I say give it a chance.

Owl House rocks. Started watching that with the kids.
