Television

I keep calling The Bear “Beef” because of the name of the restaurant. I don’t really know how the name, The Bear, applies to the show yet, but I’m assuming it’s more relevant in the new season (which I haven’t finished yet).

the main character is Carmine "Bear" Berzatoo
And at the end of season one they announce the closing of The Beef, but a new restaurant called "The Bear" will be opening soon. Then Season 2 delves into its opening.

I love Richie.
Your shirt says BERF!
It was a printing mistake. Collector's item.

I swear they never mention his last name or I just completely missed it/forgot.

I've only seen the first episode so far but they were discussing it with the new name at the very end.

I am a sucker for single shot story telling. This one is up there with Goodfellas and True Detective.
Absolutely. So frenetic and enthralling, my fave ep of the entire series so far. The Fishes episode in S2 is fabulous, but more than twice as long. Completely different from S1E7, but also great tv.

Interestingly, two friends of mine (so far) have said they hated it. No spoilers, as I know not everyone has seen it, but it's so fascinating to me that people had to actually leave the room during it, whereas I was like "OMG this is so incredible"

+1

The opening scene gave me massive amounts of anxiety and ran longer than I thought necessary. Took me three tries to finish the episode.
