Television

Has anybody seen this? I'm not much of a Who fan - watched a couple Matt Smith seasons, and a few others here and there. Enjoyed the vibes, but it never grabbed me that much. I'd heard it had kind of lost the plot the last few seasons, but now with a fresh lead, new writer, and increased budget they seem confident enough to start hyping it up, and even calling it a new season 1. I may check it out.

I've been re-watching it as I watched the three new specials. I haven't watched the Christmas special yet, which is his first full appearance, so I don't know. I'd say it's still very much Doctor Who to me. But it looks slightly better, and he seems like a fun shift for the character.

Fargo season 5, episodes 1-2: This is fun, seems a bit more grounded, back to basics Fargo.

Fargo season 5, episode 3: what the fuck.

Definitely enjoying this season more than 4, which I never finished.
Noah Hawley can't help himself. you remember the random spaceship encounter in season 2 that is never referenced or explained? that being said I just watched episode 6 and this is gearing up to be maybe the best season ever.

Looks like I'm going to need to catch up with Fargo. I barely remember seasons 1, 2, and 3 and I think I stopped after 1 episode into season 4 for some reason. It's probably due a full rewatch through those first seasons.

Billy Bob’s role is season 1 might’ve been one of the best villains in TV history. Bokeem Woodbine in S2 was great too.

Spent the afternoon catching up with this season of Fargo. It's pretty good! Definitely a step up from season 4, which I never actually finished. It lacks the subtext, sharpness, and consistency that would make it as good as seasons 1-3, but it's still an entertaining ride. Hamm and Temple are the standout performances. Love seeing them play against type. Everyone else is good too, tho JJL's performance is a bit too hammy for me at times (not to be confused with Jon).

So the question I have for Fargo S5, is Indira going to take Lorraine's offer? I think her moral compass would point to no, but her financial reality would say yes.
My question is based on what happened in the most recent episode
is Roy’s first wife, Linda dead/ murdered? in her dream when Linda and Dot are are conversing after leaving Camp Utopia, Dot asked Linda why she didn’t take her and Gator with her when she fled, and Dot says, it’s alright that she fled as Roy woulda killed her as he had also attempted to kill Dot. The reason I ask is, Roy doesn’t seem to be concerabout his first wives whereabouts and I wonder if it were revealed that Roy had killed Gator’s mom if it would effect Roy and Gator’s relationship.

That's a good question. I wonder if, based on how the last episode ended, we will receive some more insight from Roy. I imagine he'll pontificate about obedient wives, etc. and will, as such, air his grievances regarding Dot and perhaps Linda too.

Season 3 was my least favorite of the series but I feel that season 5 is up there with seasons 1 & 2 for sure. Depending how things shake out it could end up being my favorite.

I know FX is one of the last bastions for interesting TV (especially on Cable TV) but it’s an absolute joy that John Landgraf keeps letting Noah Hawley do pretty much whatever he wants on the network.

Yeah well to balance that out he also lets Kurt Sutter keep doing anything he wants, too.
