The Beatles

Honestly before Let It Be the list here was under €100 for all of them. I think I paid €35 for Peppers and €90-95 for White and Abbey Road. They took a big jump in price for Let It Be and this has had another big jump again.
Think I got White and Abbey Road for 60-70, but baulked at paying 130 for Let It Be, as it's not my favourite. Revolver is, but this is silly money.

It is and unlike white with the Esher and even Get Back in Let It Be there isn’t really anything that makes it a must have in the same way. I’ll probably let it slide until after Christmas and if I can get it in a deal go for it but if not 🤷🏻

The LIB box was worth every penny, especially for the Get back LP.

Others I have stuck to the single disc remix. The alternates I get the 24/96 files.

In this case, I wonder if the mono mix LP included represses the earlier pressing (unlikely) or is a half speed taken from the 24/96 file. If so, since I have that analog mono already, I can safely pass on the box - although I might break down.

Everything I’ve read says it is a new analog tape transfer.

My guess is that it will drop significantly…the others were around 150, but went to 80-100 shortly after
yep. i bought LIB from a daily deal at popmarket on presale for way less than MSRP. And it went way lower than that on amazon and other places with coupon codes later on. these hardly seem to sell out and can almost always be had at a significant discount later.

If does but the word “transfer” kinda intrigues me me . If, like with the 2014s, it was mastered straight from the tapes why not just say that. Transfer makes me think in the current climate that the original
Mono master was freshly transferred to a digital copy and mastered from that.

Maybe the whole MoFi thing has just made me paranoid lol.

yea i always take tape transfer to mean digital, even before the MoFi stuff.

Yeah as mentioned earlier, I think the big question is, is this the remaster from the box or is this just a straight transfer of the original mix.

I saw it described as a 2022 transfer from the original mono master tape. So whether it’s AAA or, as I’d assume given the language there’s a digital step, it’s not the 2014 mono.

I think this Revolver box set is gunna be a pass for me. Unless that mono is something extremely special, which I kind of doubt if it turns out it's just a low res digital transfer of the OG, I think I'll just get the single disc. $300 CAD is a truly ridiculous price.

Yep Joe pretty much confirmed that after l asked the question. So that'll be a no on the stupidly priced box set from me I think.
Yeah I saw that. I also kind of wanted to put out that’s all I was saying above. I believe it’s probably from a safety or something and likely digital. I only got the white vinyl box. Would buy any of the cd boxes if found for an affordable price. I don’t need the vinyl I’m never gonna listen to taking up room. I already have bonus disks by Wilco, Marvin Gaye and McCartney I’ve NEVER listened to taking up space.

I’d actually say given the wording I saw that it is probably from the original mono master tape. The Beatles tapes, particularly as late as Revolver, are all supposed to be in really good shape because by then they’d had such unprecedented success that the studio knew they were gold dust and looked after them so well, particularly for the era. It’s probably why, unlike a lot of 60s stuff, there are so many alternate takes knocking around. I’d say they’ve likely done a flat high res digital transfer of the master tape and just used that to do the different mastering jobs for the various formats.

Interesting that they've remastered "Paperback Writer" and "Rain" in mono for the EP when those were just done for the singles box in 2019.

And I think the 4 track EP is only the CD, I think it’s just a 7” single with a track on either side for the vinyl. Not sure if it’s going to be mono or stereo form the blurb though.

Edit: just checked again and it’s the new stereo mix which makes sense because the original mono would have been the single version so in that box.
