The Blue Note Thread

Amazon is about 75% good for me, but man that 25% where it isn't can be awful. But for $15 deals, I'll run the risk most times.
I always take the gamble on deals because I know that they'll make it right if it's not what I ordered or if it arrives damaged.

Same for me. It's especially good just after the holidays. And I prefer the "chat" when something goes awry. For example, just in terms of jazz (since this is the BN thread), I've gotten the following this past month: Charles Brown Christmas ($12), Nina Simone, Here Comes the Sun ($14), Monk, Brilliant Corners, OJC ($10), and Erroll Gardner, Complete Concert By the Sea ($12). And now "Amazon Crime" (as my three-old daughter calls it) has 20% off additional on some of the warehouse deals.

Fingers crossed there is some Medeski Martin and Wood on that Tone Poet list, specifically Uninvisible. But I doubt it.
Oh my, I've been hoping for that big-time for Combustication, easily my fave MMW album. I haven't bought the BN 75 reissue of Combustication b/c of all the criticism of that series. I've been thinking about just buying the original-issue vinyl, but I haven't seen much about the quality of that press.

Do you have any idea whether Combustication was recorded on tape or digital? Fwiw, in other MMW vinyl, I also own the full Radiolarians box and Omnisphere, all very good from recording-quality and vinyl-pressing perspectives.

I have the 75 edition and have no problems with it. No problems with all my BN 75 editions.

I would like to see the dropper released. I think it’s their best BN era album. I think a lot of their albums during that time were analog.

My copy of Speak No Evil is here, and boy am I happy to finally own a quality pressing of this record. The sound is outstanding: Elvin's nuanced cymbal playing and Carter's basslines are both very much present. I can't imagine any other pressing sounding significantly better than this. Maybe 30 USD better, but certainly not >100 USD better.

Any suggestions for reliable outlets for these new BN's btw ? My locals do not do preorder/request ordering very well or timely and I prefer to skip Amz if possible. Possible cancellations is also something I want to avoid.

sorry but I looked for pre order for Something Else on these sites and did not see anything that gave me confidence to order from any of them.
