The Blue Note Thread

They raised their own price by $100 from the last time this was pressed. Gross.
More than that. It was originally $45 I think? It’s not a repress—Ron is just selling all the copies he held back from selling. He’s been raising prices on any in stock stuff the closer it gets to selling out

Isn’t there going to be a Lee Morgan box this year. With the blue note box set series that preceded the tone poets (I can’t remember the name)?
The Blue Note Review?

The previous 2 didn't focus on a specific musician though. It would be cool for them to do a Morgan box but the problem is that they are priced so high that if someone was to already have just 1 of the albums in the set, it would become unrealistic financially. At least for me it would anyway.

I wonder what the odds are that it has Tom Cat, or even a few of the Lee Morgan Music matters titles?

That’s definitely the one.

Agree with the price point. tbh I didn’t pick up either of the previous ones due to price.

Lee Morgan might be tempting though, and, unfortunately, I don’t have Tom Cat

Based on the last few, it might be a lesser known Lee album and then an album with other artists covering him or an album where he’s not lead? Plus something useless like a BN hat.

I got spirit and time on discogs for a good price (way less than MSRP) and it’s a nice set but list is too expensive for what you get

Definitely. Discogs is useless for importing stuff to the UK these days, automatically adds 20%VAT and can get extra charges for shipping. If I see it at a decent price in the Uk I’d pick it up but would much prefer they just did a normal box set available through retailers

Edit - although a Lee Morgan hat might be quite cool 😂

I got a £16.99 hit on international shipping the other day for a record that was declared at £50. The handling fee was over £8 alone.

Correct. Not a repress. There are no represses for MM, which is only in the business of selling remaining stock at the highest possible price points. When something magically appears as back in stock, it is simply the last 10 or so copies he has been holding awaiting a rise in value.
