Yeah the USB port only supports dop. You’d have to connect via i2s to get native dsd. It is neither really here nor there are there is no loss in transporting dsd via dop, the only difference is I think native dsd over i2s on that preamp/dac supports a higher sample rate than dop over usb.

Not sure about the headphones, I’ve only ever used it as a preamp to a power amp but it definitely does have a class a analogue section for the preamp and headphone amp.
I think I figured it out. I typically turn the sound setting down on Roon when playing files because it can clip a bit at high volumes when playing FLAC files. When I put the volume on Roon up to 100, the Stellar Gain DAC switches the file to DSD64 or DSD128. It also shows up with the headphones in but it has to stay at 100 on the volume on Roon. If I go below it, the interface switches to 176.4 PCM. I guess the DAC needs to control everything natively. But now I get full DSD from Roon so that's nice.

I updated OS in the app and then updated the app at store today. It was behind the OS a day or so.
Weird. I updated the app and then it updated the firmware the next time I turned the amp on. Still haven’t played with it and going on vacation today… so will probably be next week before I get some time with it.

Picked up this Yamaha RX-A2A for under $400 as a refurbished unit. Replacing an ancient Onkyo AVR.

Running 5.1.2 with 4 Klipsch speakers in the ceiling. Overall, really nice sound from Yamaha.
These JBL bookshelf speakers are approaching 25yrs old. I don't know if I can ever part with them.

65" Hisense is running Google TV and I'm a big fan of their software. I'll eventually upgrade to another wall mount but it's slightly out of square for the time being. It's fine for a man cave, and doesn't bother me when watching so it will be a ways out.

Okay so it looks like Qobuz is in Canada as of this year. Didn't realize this. Those that know... what sucks about it? Is there any reason I shouldn't switch there from Tidal?

Yeah you can use it with the blueOS app but airplay will do as airplay does and shrink the quality from the native app. They’re developing a connect protocol but it’s not ready yet.

On the positive more music and more music in hi res than tidal. They pay the artists the best out any service and I think they’re quite a way clear of all the others on that too.

And I can connect to the Node the same as I do with Tidal using my android phone yes?

Yeah but you’ll need to log into qobuz in the blueOS app and use it to control it until such a time as they launch their connect protocol and blueOS supports it.
Hilarious. This whole time this is how I've been using the Node with Tidal. I didn't even realize you could control it directly from the Tidal app.

When I hit the connect button on the app all I see is toggles for Facebook and Waze. But I'm not currently at home. Maybe node shows up there if I'm on Bluetooth at home?

Tidal Connect only works when you’re on the same WiFi network as the node. The node is still doing the streaming directly from the internet, the connect is just letting the tidal app work as a remote control as such.

Oh strange. The connect menu drop down shows just Waze and Facebook even when at home on the wifi. But the little speaker icon on the song playing shows that I can connect. Kinda odd but okay.
