Good decision, I think you will be happy. If you are still a TMR Vault member, remember you get 75% off Tidal
I'm not going to chase the dragon the same way I do with vinyl.

I mean Tidal has FLAC up to 9200 kbps, I DON'T NEED MORE THAN THAT, THAT'S FINE STOP HELPINGTidal will only take that fix so far, come over completely to the darkside. Drink the hi-res cool-aid and hear the difference
Who needs FLAC when you can listen to DSD files??I mean Tidal has FLAC up to 9200 kbps, I DON'T NEED MORE THAN THAT, THAT'S FINE STOP HELPING
a lot of us get caught up in needing things to sound the absolute best or chasing a better sound and then it can stop being fun. sometimes you can do too much research and it can get frustrating if you aren't hearing what reviewers are hearing.I think dukie had a nervous breakdown when faced with MQA files and how best to decode them.
The only plus to being partially deaf in one ear, chasing that elusive "highest-quality sound" is a lot less important to me.a lot of us get caught up in needing things to sound the absolute best or chasing a better sound and then it can stop being fun. sometimes you can do too much research and it can get frustrating if you aren't hearing what reviewers are hearing.
Ya I just refuse to deal with decoding files, that's where I draw the line. That's too much like work for me. The Node is Canadian made, looks to be fairly well updated in terms of firmware etc. It's only $650 CAD. I'm happy to let it take care of the various formats etc. I'm not going to chase down lossless downloads etc. Unless there is a way down the line to mass convert all the music on my computer to FLAC or some other high res lossless format then I'm fine with just paying a monthly fee for access to a good library of high res stuff. Vinyl is still my priority.a lot of us get caught up in needing things to sound the absolute best or chasing a better sound and then it can stop being fun. sometimes you can do too much research and it can get frustrating if you aren't hearing what reviewers are hearing.
All joking aside, I think you will be happy with this setup. Its ready to expand to include a personal digital collection if you decide to go that route. Setup was a breeze. Of course I now want to get a nice tablet to use as a controller/what's playing display unit.Ya I just refuse to deal with decoding files, that's where I draw the line. I will say, the Apple TV Tidal app might be the worst music app I've ever had to try to use. It is, horrid. I'll be very happy to delete that immediately as soon as I get the Node connected. All joking aside, I think you will be happy with this setup. Actually, this leads me to another question. With the Node 3 connected, would I be using the BlueSound app on my android or iOS device to play the music or the actual Tidal app? Also I'm assuming I can use either an iPhone/iPad or a Android phone/tablet to do this.I will say, the Apple TV Tidal app might be the worst music app I've ever had to try to use. It is, horrid. You should be able to use either the Tidal app (probably better option) or BluOS. You can use anything that connects to the internet to control the music.Actually, this leads me to another question. Yeah, I don't think tidal connect works yet with the Node... So I guess just the bluos app it is...Either but if it was me I’d just use the blueOS app for initial set up and for playing music just use the tidal app using tidal connect, it’ll likely be a lot more user friendly. Even with Sonos, whose app is great, Spotify and the like is better through its own app.
Yep—the option to get an external DAC or hook up via Roon later is nice to have just in case you want to go that route! I might use my old iPad as a controller/what’s playing unit at some point! All joking aside, I think you will be happy with this setup.
