Yeah, I don't think tidal connect works yet with the Node... So I guess just the bluos app it is...

WAIT NO I'M WRONG NEVERMIND

It was the other player it didn't work on. This is fine. Everything is fine.
Yes, if you use the Tidal app for everything you are better off. Then you just use the BluOS app for initial setup and firmware upgrades.

Okay but while I have you all here, I do have an actual digital question. So my AVR has room correction. It has the ability to set individual speaker levels so that they all match each other. Almost always it sets these speaker levels close to max. It has the option to go from -10 to +10 db and It almost always has them all set in the +7 to +9 area. So generally my amp volume doesn't need to go very high in order for my speakers to get pretty loud. Now I've never gone through and pulled them all down because as far as I can tell it's just pushing the volume to the speakers that I'd normally be pushing using the volume knob. So if I lower them all by 7 db, I'd have to raise my main volume knob by 7 db to get back to that level. Am I wrong in thinking these speaker levels being set high WON'T affect sound quality?

No it shouldn’t because once all your gear is good it shouldn’t distort at higher volumes. One thing though is that digital tends to be a fair chunk louder than analogue as an input, I tend to use a lot less gain on my CDs/SACDs and streaming than I do for vinyl.

That said you are using an Ort 2M which is a really high output cart in the grand scheme of things so maybe that won’t be so much of a difference for you.

You might just need to tinker with it all so the digital files aren’t playing louder than you’d prefer but I’d just wait until it turns up and trial and error.

I definitely did notice that yesterday when I tried out non hi res tidal. I can set the input trim lower on the BlueSound so that's easy. But you don't think for vinyl etc having those individual speaker trims so high should adversely affect the audio quality?

I mean gain can always add noise and in cheaper gear it can cause distortion but the better your gear the less likely that is to happen. I don’t see why something just being a few db louder would adversely affect the sound quality in an amp as good as the one you have is.

Cool thanks, that's what I figured. And also kinda why I figured DIRAC does that.

Ah did you get the blue jeans off Amazon? When you were complaining about Canada shipping I meant to mention to you that they have an Amazon store and that I bought the two sets of speaker cable off their Amazon US store and it just added the duty and shipping in cart and still was a really fair price.

I hate Amazon but occasionally have to for things like this.

I did, up until recently they didn't have BJC but I spotted it the other day. Good price, agreed I hate Amazon but it's literally the only way to get it up here that I could find.

Yeah same it was the only way I could get them over here without being smashed for VAT and broker fees because they’ll let you pay it all up front. Also shipping was cheaper.
