Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier

What an uninspiring stretch of albums this ends. I get there a project like this is gonna have duds, but 3 or 4 in a row is a churn - especially when playing catch-up!

This is very unmemorable and unremarkable, but a million times better than Robbie Williams. 2/5

Nice background music.

When I listened intently, she seems like a very good storyteller.

I liked the use of percussion in 'The Jungle Line'.

3 / 5 stars.

She is a very good storyteller. I maintain that whilst she may not have peaked as consistently, or for as long a period, as some others at her peak Joni is the best lyricist I’ve encountered. She paints pictures in my mind.

I really like this, I don’t know if it is just me becoming better acclimated to her peculiarities or what but this is the most enjoyable first listen I’ve ever had. She still feels like a puzzle and ephemeral/esoteric but I’m not focused on that with first listen.

I kind of like that she’s a puzzle. I think she’d like that she’s a puzzle. Sometimes art is better for subtleties and mysteries that are held back from us. I kinda miss the inaccessibility and mystery surrounding stars, the internet bursting the bubble and showing us everything and anything about them has kinda taken away something…

I sometimes like reading through the general reviews, I don’t know why, there are some really knob heads out there, but this one of Robbie Williams made me chuckle:

“I’m not originally from the UK so I asked my wife what it is that I don’t get about this Robbie Williams album, it’s really shit. She answered, you’re not a middle age woman who wants to sleep with him”
My wife is NOT a Radiohead fan, but I am and we have friends in a group chat that are, so we go back and forth on them. I had to screencap these two back to back reviews of the Bends and send it to them as it perfectly defines the range of feelings people have for Radiohead.

Whomever wrote that first one has issues. Maybe an intervention needs to be staged…

Joni Mitchell ~ Hissing of Summer Lawns

New discovery for me. Familiar with other Joni, but not this one. A little more adventurous and stylistic, which I appreciated. And the way she wraps her voice around all the instrumentation is top notch as always. 4/5
