Sparks, at least this album, sounds like a Devo musical.

My first exposure to Sparks was this version of "This Town..." that came out in the 90's featuring Faith No More

Yeah, my introduction was their 2006 album Hello Young Lovers. That first track, “Dick Around” felt like a Queen song but with all the guitar solos replaced by synth but that song and album was just the type of the iceberg.

Third listen on sparks, it no longer sounds weird. To be clear, I absolutely loved the first listen but there was a lot of “what the fuck is going on?”

Yeah, this thing is like Queen, Devo and Roxy Music collaborated on it. It’s crazy and infectious.

This one kicks off the third incarnation of Crimson (1st being their first album only, 2nd being the next three), and a sweet three album run before a 7-year hiatus that ended when the fourth King released Discipline in '81.

I listened to this one a LOT in my early twenties, but it's been over a decade and a half since I've heard it. Playing it right now and I still absolutely love it, but also get why people might not!

So far it’s all a little noodly prog. Then the guy sings and it feels like some soundtrack to a Medieval English version of Harold & Maude.

Most prog takes me some living with to appreciate.

This seems very complicated and well played. There is also a surprising amount of whimsy.

This is bringing back fond memories of getting stoned in my dad's basement and blasting these albums while plotting out mixtapes and hanging around on IRC!

My biggest regret from the one time I saw Radiohead was relying on a friend for a ride who was always notoriously late, which led to us missing the entirety of Beta Band's opening set.
