Talking Heads - Talking Heads: 77

Obviously a classic. However, when I go looking for a Talking Heads album to listen to, it's not one I reach for very often. It's a great post punk album but they have more interesting albums in their discography. Still a 4/5 for me though.

So for those that don’t know. In 2016 a man accused Afrika of abusing him as 15 yo in 1980. Bambaataa denied it and the other accusers, but then stepped down from his leadership role in the Zulu Nation. Melle Mel confirmed the stories in 2021, stating that everyone in the Bronx knew.

The 13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators

Such a great, important record. Kinda like The Velvet Underground, The 13th Floor Elevators influence spans well beyond their time making music.

If you've never seen this documentary, you need to.

I was lucky enough to see one of Roky's last shows. Tape was rolling. The electric jug is loud and proud...

Just love everything about this album and the one that follows it. Both unimpeachable. You know who on top form vocally and lyrically and Johnny Marr just really tears it up here. For a band tagged as jingle jangle every track on here uses a different guitar tone and style. This album will never get old.
