Man, that kitchen for the kid was a pain in the ass.

Purple Rain. There are two problems with the album. #1 Purple Rain’s lyrics are nonsense, which would be a problem for my next point, but that guitar solo makes up for it. #2. (Kind of Blue aside) Questlove made me realize something about myself 5 star perfect albums aren’t as interesting as the 4.5 star albums. I need that touch of humanity added by imperfection to truly engage with a piece of art. Which probably explains my affinity for Love Symbol as my favorite Prince album. The majority of the thing is great but something like Morning Papers or the Maxx is just this side of perfect (mostly in the corny department) and makes the whole thing better. Purple Rain is a five star album and it’s all too much. Which is why it doesn’t get pulled as much as other albums.

Absolutely love this album. Incredible pop album that’s provocative, catchy, fun and deep. The title track is one of my favorite songs of all time, just so sexy and that choir are end is just magical. And “Till Death Do Is Part” is probably my favorite Madonna album cut.

“Dear Jessie” sounds like it was made for an episode of the old MLP show and the final track is a pretty wild soundscape for Madonna. I’m not sure either song really works but I love the album even more since they are there

Being a teen and adult in the 80s and 90s, I am familiar with Madge's imperial phase, but that is really just the hits. I doubt I have heard one of her studio albums all the way through. Gonna try to change that today.

Damn that Madonna album was fun, very good. That said not sure when I would ever listen to it again over say Immaculate Collection
