The Official Needles and Grooves 1001 Album Generator Project (aka Preachin’ about the Preachers if today’s selection sucks)

Questlove put out a 3-hour documentary about the music of SNL. It’s airing tonight on NBC but I would suspect it’ll be available on Peacock at some point in the near future. I have set it up to record but I am looking forward to giving it a watch tomorrow.

I think it is on Peacock at air time. Anyhow, I may see if I can get a damn preview or something, cause I want to see it, but i don't want to pay for another damn service.

I love this record. It's great. They were pretty much fully realized from the get go. Eddie was already doing crazy shit.

I also love how this 47 year old thin ass record in a beat up jacket that had lord only knows how many owners before me sounds better than like 75% of the thick ass vinyl people put out today.

Agreed. Eddie had his game down. Another thing that was great about this period of music {and the years leading up to it and some years afterwards) is band creativity and growth wasn't stifled by creating delayed demand in the name of profitability. "You guys got a record a year from '78 - '82 - get in the studio while you're fresh and energized and let's get that music out there."

I posted it here before so may as well do it again - running all my pedestrian copies of records I've collected over the decades thru the Humminguru has driven home what an obscene money grab the majority of today's records are from an actual audio/pressing quality standpoint.

That's why all the shiny object sleight of hand the industry hangs its hat on today - limited this, numbered that, variants out the wazoo - drives me crazy because all I want is a reasonably priced black record that sounds great. All the pageantry can go suck one. But there are obviously many more consumers into pageantry and exclusivity than sound these days because the industry keeps cranking out and selling out a good amount of aural crap.

Eddie rightfully is the focus of the group but Alex was one heckova drummer too. I think his abilities are a bit underrated and bring something special to the band.
