The Official Needles and Grooves 1001 Album Generator Project (aka Preachin’ about the Preachers if today’s selection sucks)

I have no recollection of when I came to TV on the Radio. All I know is I love them and look forward to Adebimpe’s solo album. This album is great like all of their albums. Hell, maybe I was listening from the get go and they were what drew me back into new music. I really don’t know.
I remember The Young Liars EP started getting hype on the music blogs. I was super stoked for this full length and wasn’t disappointed. Great, Soulful Indie Rock and given your love of TVOTR I’ll take this opportunity to again push you to read Meet Me In The Bathroom as it has a good section dedicated to the band.

It’s in the pile man! I’ll get to it one day!

TV on the Radio - Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes

I remember seeing the Staring at the Sun music video on MTV2 all the time and thinking it was one of the greatest songs ever. I also remember this wining the Short List Music prize which I don't think even exists anymore.

I am glad, it’s better than the 9th best Byrds album that would make likely replaced it.
Totally agree. But this is also my problem with this stupid list. They have 9 Bowie albums on it. I think he is a genius but that is crazy. Then they have great albums like TVotR that just feel like they are tossed on.

The list doesn’t know if it wants to be a simple list of the 1000 best rock/pop albums, or a list of great albums that you may have missed the first time.

It’s possible that this is an us problem, not a book problem. I’d imagine its target audience is not really the guy with 2500 records. But you kind of have to wonder if a kid with a couple of Now That’s what I call music comps is gonna be interested either.

Aren’t books like this coffee table tomes and conversation starters generally rather than things to be fully poured over in detail?
