The Return of the Challenge Thread - December 2019

Day 12 - Staying local.
Play a band from your home state/country - or where you currently are living

Pretty sure these guys are just accross the border in Quebec, but I have fond memories of the singles off this album playing all over the radio as a kid. And an even fonder memory of watching them play at the local zoo. This is an awesome 3LP trifold set, and it's gorgeous! A real nostalgia trip this one (y)

I recommended anyone who's interested check the song Brother Down out!

Day 13 - Lucky 13 / Friday The 13th
Play an album that you were lucky to find or got an unexpected great deal on; or related to Friday The 13th

Back in 1975 John Martyn put out his own Live album that was exclusively mail order at the time. It was limited to a couple thousand copies, some were hand numbered, some with personalized notes, and some had no number at all.

But all of these original issues sat in Johns living room at one point in time. I absolutely love John, he's my favorite musician of all time. His music is more important to me than anyone else I've listened to.. So for me to find a Near-Mint Original Copy for 5 Dollars at my local Bookstore/RecordStore was just completly shocking. One of the few times as a collector I wanted to jump with joy at what I just found. Bought it immediately, and haven't really had a find as exciting since. My copy wasn't numbered, but the history behind it as a fan is just intense. One of my favorite pieces :)

Oh.. And the music's wonderful of course!

Day 6 - The Who - Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy

So I don't have a ton of greatest hits compilations, since I love the album format and greatest hits collections work best on CD in my opinion. But this one is fire and essential for any rock collection. This focuses on the pre-Who's Next singles and is concise and focused.
