Spin something that your family made you love, or something that reminds you of them
Pink Floyd - The Wall
My sister (four years older than me) brought this record home when it came out and I'll always remember that first listen.
I was 10 at the time. Me, my sister and my mom played it start to finish, and read the lyrics as we listened. My mom helped explain some of the themes; I didn't totally get it all at that young age, but it helped. When I was frightened later that night because of the still creepy 'Is there anybody OUT there?' good ol' mom helped me understand that it wasn't at all about a guy thinking a monster was outside his bedroom window.
She passed 20 years ago Tuesday, and this day's topic helped me conjure a nice, sweet memory.
Cheers.
This was the first album that came to mind. There’s some a cappella, and also he has these interesting vocal grunts and sounds as he plays. It’s an amazing experience listening to this.
I have a new record shelf, so trying to find a new spot for pics.
Play something that features the human voice as a main instrument. Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds I had slim pickin’s when it came to beatboxers. I figured it was either this, or The Roots, or looking for a Biz Markie verse on one of my Beasties LPs. Regardless, I picked this up for like $7 on Amazon because it was $7 and had not yet spun it. I forget how amazing Timberlands production is this is some wild stuff. Plus JT beatboxes so yeah...
DAY 19 – We No Speak Americano [song reference: Yolanda B Cool and DCUP]
Play something that is not in English. And, for our overseas friends, play something with vocals that is not in your most fluent language. [Sorry if I worded that clunkily.]
Dad and uncle introduced me to this band so when I listen to them it's instant nostalgia of listening to this album for the first time over at my uncle's house

I have no idea how or why Matador got ahold of this internationally ignored band in the early 90's.
All I know is I am a better man for having lived with their decision.
While the German language version of PG-3, aka "Melt", was just overdubs, this one is mixed differently, varies in durations compared to the English version, and even has German backing vocals.
Peter Gabriel – Deutsches Album Charisma – 6302 221, 1982
No album/artist has made me want to hug my speaker, but I do really love this debut. It may not be close to my "favorite", but it would be up there...and I wanted to hear it right now.
Roxy Music – Roxy Music ATCO Records – SD 36-133, 1972/1976
US reissue. US releases of this album included "Virginia Plain".

Juliana Hatfield once said in an interview that she loved Jeff Buckley's album Grace so much that she would hug the speakers to get closer to the music.
Spin an album you feel that way about.
Radiohead - Hail to the Thief
A top 3 Radiohead album for me, and hugging the speakers would probably make this excellent album even better.
Also, I saw them on this tour at The Blossom Music Center. We were in the orchestra pit, and by the encore I had gotten pretty close, almost close enough to hug their amps.
Little did I know that it's very hard to find an Irish connection in my library so I had to settle for the same region-ish, and enjoy a nice Brew Dog Pulp Patriot while spinning
DAY 20 – Speaker Hugger
Spin an album you feel that way about.
Little Wings - Wonderue
I suppose there are lots of reasons to wanna give someone (or something) a hug; Love, Empathy, Sadness, Celebration, Hello’s, Goodbyes, etc... this record kinda covers all the bases. Plus who deserves a hug more than “The Shredder”
