Vinyl Me Please Anthology

even though i am a complete VMP shill i will agree not getting an authentic experience to the original record is crappy.. especially when it cost at least 35 dollars a record.

i will say that hopefully this is a one time thing and at least the actual remastering is apparently great.. its kinda dumb they couldn't get the original cover for one of the releases though

Just catching up on this.. can someone elaborate as to why the old anthology thread was deleted? What was being said that made them nuke it?

The thing that kills me, is that this is such basic stuff. It's so completely obvious to anyone who is a music fan let alone works at a record company, that if you are doing what you claim to be a high end BlueNote box set you NEED to get the artwork right. There's no QUESTION it has to be a exact reproduction of the original artwork... one way or another. And if BlueNote sends you the wrong artwork you have to make sure it's corrected. How this sort of thing ever makes it to print is just staggering to me. It's gross incompetence, and it keeps happening over and over. It's beyond my comprehension.

It's because the company is staffed with 20 and 30 year olds who haven't worked in the industry before and therefore, lack experienced quality assurance (which many on this forum possess)- coupled with VMP staffers' lack of product knowledge- can lead to such things.
"Haste makes waste."
"Measure twice, cut once."

All of this, paired a with a great vision. And sadly, a complete and utter lack of willingness to acknowledge their shortcomings.

So much potential, all going to waste.
