Vinyl Me Please Anthology

This is based on an actual question I heard someone ask Colin Baker at a Sci Fi convention thing after he had spent one hour eloquently telling us all about his experiences playing Dr Who. Final question please - One Guy in the audience ‘Did you like being Dr Who?’

Yes I met Colin Baker at a Sci-Fi convention, I know, I know. You’re all impressed.

I can’t wait until the podcast asking them about being women in the music industry.
LMAO! I want to be there with you when you listen to the podcast because I know it’ll be funny with you rolling your eyes and commenting. Like imagine if you did a reaction video for the podcasts 😂😂😂

So true though what you said about the whole calling out of ‘Women’ of Motown. There really wouldn’t have been a ‘Men’ of Motown if there happened to be only men in this Motown VMP box.

So, assuming it’s like the first anthology video tease where songs and images matched the artists in that box, I hear the Vandellas’ “Nowhere to Run” which means Dance Party, Supremes’ Where Did Our Love Go, and then Syreeta.
How much are these worth on discogs (preferably of a solid quality pressing)

Now adjust them to the records quality and modern pricing and you'll find the price these should be worth

And if 3 of the 8 albums aren't worth the price its not worth buying the anthology

And as always, personal taste matters

Potential question for the Q&A

Q. Do you like being a woman?
I just snorted.
Oh crud. I just thought about the podcasts - and storf doing them. Good lord, I hope they have a woman on those podcasts also.

Edit: That is not a dig at Storf, please don't pile on. I just hope they thought it through and will also have a woman's voice on the podcasts.
Yeah, Storf is pretty thoughtful and insightful about a lot of issues relating to sexism and the music industry. His wife is pretty badass, and I think they talk about this kind of thing a lot too. But it's still wildly icky to do a whole anthology about women in an industry or movement and have it essentially filtered through a male perspective. Is Ameliah still with VMP? She's done some pretty great interviews.

Ameliah sure is there, she had a nice write up on the new Sandy Alex G record on the front page today.

I chuckle at the story he told about the book they wrote. And how his wife was so livid at him for the original list not having enough women.

She is a bad ass and influences storf and his awareness of the nonsense in the industry that women face.

Well, seems the pre-sale is up for anyone and not exclusive at all.

Well, seems the pre-sale is up for anyone and not exclusive at all.

Well, the question is whether returning members get an extra discount - if so, then great. If not, then they deserve backlash.

I never expected that they wouldn't try to funnel people into the pre-sale.

Where do you rank him out of all the Doctors?

I think the extra discount is just for returning members. I'm willing to give out mine to whoever wants it. I didn't expect them to really keep the pre-sale exclusive either, but I'm just wondering what VMP thinks "open to the public" means when the pre-sale itself is open to the public.

Edit: it looks like the pre-sale is discounted from the "open to the public" price, but that former anthology members will get an additional discount of $30 off.

Right, returning members get the discount with the code sent out in the emails today. Not shocking VMP would want to get the word out to ensure another sellout. I hope they release the titles before the launch but I'm in regardless. They haven't steered me wrong on Classics and I don't have enough Motown in my collection. They did a great job of turning me on to Blue Note artists that I may have passed over. I'm ready to take another VMP curated ride. I just hope it's less bumpy this time.

Of course they did...

Where do you rank him out of all the Doctors?

Sixth. He’s the sixth Doctor....

Only joking. I know what you mean. OK here goes....

1st - Troughton (AMAZING)
2nd - Baker (AMAZING)
3rd - Pertwee (AMAZING)

Top 3 are very close. Could argue all are the best

4th - Hartnell
5th - David Tennant
6th - Christopher Eccleston
7th - Matt Smith

These were all great Doctors just not GOAT.

8th - Colin Baker
9th - Peter Davison
10th - Sylvester McCoy
11th - Peter Capaldi (Very disappointing was hoping for more)
12th - Paul McGann

I can’t rate Jodie Whittaker yet. But I would like to ask her 2 questions.

Do you like being Dr Who?

Do you like being a woman?
