I had an old iMac box out in my storage shed. Like just any day I was going to need to box the iMac back up.
Yeah, I totally do not have an iMac box in my closet right now, and can't relate to this at all

I like Eccleston more than Tennant or Smith.Don't get me wrong, I love Tennant, but Matt Smith is my fave of the 21st century doctors. Surprised to see Eccleston ahead of Smith!
fifyI want to file Diana Ross under D
That was one of the biggest areas of getting rid of thing I had when doing this Marie Kondo decluttering. I had an old iMac box out in my storage shed. Like just any day I was going to need to box the iMac back up.

If I ever start hugging unused possessions to see if I still feel joy, take me straight to dignitas.

Today, the same day of the announcement, I got another Akinmusire replacement. The return address listed Matt Fiedler rather than VMP. I had long ago given up on getting that record right, finally got customer service to agree to open a replacement before it got sent to me to make sure there was no issue with one of the labels, they told me it would be included with the Dexter replacement, and of course it wasn't. I sold that box set at cost to someone else on this forum and told VMP CS to not bother sending me another Akinmusire. But it arrived today, and is still in the shrink - no one checked to see if there's a label problem with this copy. What a mess of a business. So damn hilarious I get a mistakenly sent, second Dexter Calling replacement* the day this email goes out.
He blocked me on YouTube when I asked if he was receiving the VMP records he was 'reviewing' for free. He didn't reply, just blocked me.I still think it says everything that needs to be said about vinyl smack head that he blocked me on twitter for making that joke to him!
A thousand is too many IMO. Probably at least half the BNA customers were from the Blue Note mailing list, and those are people who are used to shelling out big money for audiophile pressing of jazz records. People are not doing the same, at that level, for Motown records.I have a fear that if this one doesn't do as well as the Blue Note one, they will place the blame on the fact that all the artists are women and use that as justification to not do more box sets prominently featuring women artists.
I remember him saying that if he didn't receive a free copy of a record to preview, he wouldn't sell it on his site. I just took it as this guy finding a brilliant way to get free records. The thing that still makes me laugh is how after I criticized his writing -- certain, um, material in particular -- he deleted the posts from his site, and then lied and said he hadn't deleted them and that he stood by every deleted word.
How...is he assigning a QC score to records that haven't even been released? Like, on the strength of a test pressing or something? What is going on over there?

Oh I like Tennant heaps more than Smith. I think it helped that Tennant had better stories though. I got pretty bored/annoyed during the Smith arc, and didn't end up finishing his last season or watching any Capaldi.I like Eccleston and Smith more than Tennant, I never got how the general opinion was how much better Tennant was. I really like Jodi Whitaker so far too, sheās seems to have given it an energy and freshness again, itās fun and Dr Who should always be fun!

Same here. Though it was funny all the people who were OUTRAGED!!! when he was announced as the new Dr because of the Tucker character. As if he would be running around screaming at everyone and calling them C*NTSI just couldnāt get past Malcolm Tucker as the doctor...
tbh then its not even a box set but more something like tone poets just reissuing themTo be honest the only thing that I think is important is the QRP and, to a lesser extent, the AAA. Dump the podcast, book and box and save on the stuff we donāt need, spend on the stuff we do need, what we can hear.

Just to drag this up again while I catch up. How does one rate something 97% then the next item 96%? I want to know what the defining 1% is?Please don't tell me you are buying records that haven't been personally checked and graded by the great jazzbo of the north?

I tried to figure this all out when I went down his rabbit hole a bit and just gave up. "It's just all so weird" is the perfect description. And what about the ones with no rating. Is he actively selling albums he thinks are badly pressed then? Or is he just too lazy to actually follow through on his usp and rate all the albums? Itās just all so weird.
If you really want your head to spin, try figuring out how something like Kamasi Washington got a 93.5%. What adds or subtracts a half a percent?Just to drag this up again while I catch up. How does one rate something 97% then the next item 96%? I want to know what the defining 1% is?
