Weren’t we supposed to get a letter in the mail for the stax anthology?
Sigh. Storfer said Anthology has a completely separate e-commerce infrastructure and is supposedly immune to the migration mess but .....Yep, but then VMP decided to shoot itself in the foot so I assume that's not happening.

UPDATE: they are shipping it now. Managed to talk to VMP, mine is in the second batch and has just shipped. So looks like it will be okay after allJust add it to the list of things VMP promised with these anthologies and then either underdelivered or completely ignored.
I dunno if you can say it's Stax-ish, but I think Johnny Adams is too slept on. Heart & Soul is an excellent comp.I've been heavily ramping up on old Stax-ish soul records. Atlantic had a TON of great talent on their soul roster. I've been binging on Rufus Thomas and Wilson Pickett lately. Also looking into picking up more Bar-Kays, Mar-Keys and Booker Ts. Anyone else have a soul recommendation?
Sidebar mention for Run Out Groove's current record by Barbara Lynn. I've never heard her and was immediately impressed by the samples I heard on YouTube. I've never ordered from ROG directly before, but have one of their LPs (Sonny Stitt) and like the way they do things. They press by the amount of pre-orders they receive. It's kind of funny to look at one of their older releases and see that they have 1395 (Stitt) or 898 for Lou Johnson's Sweet Southern Soul (CHECK THAT LP OUT!).

Funny, that Cher album was one of the ROG titles. 4115 copies. Not sure if it really counts as 'soul' but Cher's cover of Walk On Guilded.. from the album she recorded with Muscle Shoals definitely is worth tracking down.
