Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I've been thinking about the podcast because I couldn't figure out why the Storfcast was so much worse than the Ghostly pod hosted by Vivian Host, a real pro podcaster.

And it's this: Storf talks too much. During his interviews, he's telling the anecdotes like these people don't know it already. He's asking questions and then answering them himself. I don't want to hear what some random dude that has a tattoo and read some books thinks. I want the author, the primary sources. Basically, Storf has no clue how to interview people and it shows. It's frustrating because I'm sure with a real podcast host, someone with interviewing experiences, they'd have really interesting things to say. Instead it's Storf railroading them the whole time.

Also that intro about his love for Stax was boring and self indulgent and bad writing.

I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt but man that intro was cringey and bad.

I feel mostly the same way. Storf seems a little too close to the whole thing. I wonder if it's such a passion of his that nobody really feels like they can give him helpful feedback for how to make it as good as it can be. There were basic grammar errors in his script. Someone should have caught that.

I got my Ghostly replacements. Just the discs in bubble wrap in their inner sleeves instead of the entire album.

I think that's pretty standard with these types of things. Some people have damaged sleeves but the record is fine, so they get just a replacement sleeve. I've had replacement sleeves only and discs only from the Motown Anthology.

Just a question, are those Stax podcasts exclusive to the purchasers of the set? Or open to all. I’m assuming they are exclusive now, just wondered if there was any mention of them being open to all at a later date? Cheers and merry Christmas!

Seems like it’s open to everyone. Has social share buttons everywhere. Here’s the link ->Vinyl Me, Please Anthology: The Story Of Stax Records

I am pumped to all get out for this box! Especially if the previous predictions come true. I only hope the Booker T & the MGs LP is in mono. I recently bought a mono version that was G+ and too rough for enjoyment. I picked up a stereo copy and the difference was astounding. No comparison that the Mono kicked serious ass. For fun, I tried recording the stereo copy and bouncing it down to a single mono track, then compared that with the original mono. No comparison. The Mono was far superior!

I don't think of myself as one of those "mono rules" nerds, but now I'm starting to ask myself that question. At least for this band, in this period in time.
