Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Can you imagine the poor intern who had to listen to thousands of hours of comedy records to find even 6 hours that would not cause people to burn VMP to the ground? They probably have ptsd from hearing so many Jewish/Italian/Polish/Irish stereotype jokes that they are sitting in a dark, back corner somewhere, rocking back and forth muttering to themselves.

I have a couple Dane Cook cds that came with dvds. And a couple Adam Sandler cds, but those have songs too. That's about it for comedy albums. Id much rather watch stand ups.

Based on the names they listed probably not that hard. The tricky part is partnering with other labels. Netflix for example puts out a lot of the specials they do on wax

Haven't checked for a comedy record in...wait I never really check for comedy records... I do check in the comedy section at record stores because people have been known to hide records there!

I personally can't see myself sitting down and listening to stand-up on vinyl...this one is going to be interesting to see play out, can't wait to see what this costs!!

"here's a richard pryor record, that our lawyers and PR consultants have advised us to not to tell you the title of"

Renewed my sub for a year and got the free store credit. Thinking of putting that $150 towards either the Vanguard or Quincy Jones anthologies. Vanguard would only come out to $89.

However, the Quincy set has always appealed to me. But even using the credit it still comes out to $189. Which is still a lot and not sure if it's worth it even at that price.

Anyone want to try and persuade me in either direction? I haven't heard a lot of chatter about either set.

I personally would hold out since the impulse set is coming soon ish but I'm not a huge fan of any of the vanguard or quincy records

I like them both but find the quincy albums are more replayable. Especially the Sinatra and Miles albums. Vanguard is more music history type music for me. Still good but in its own way

I was thinking I’d get more mileage out of the Quincy set compared to Vanguard. The only two albums I am kinda “meh” on are The Wiz and Back the Block. Idk. It still feels like too much money.

Maybe @yukbon is right and I should hold off for Impulse.

Nothing wrong with that either
