Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Cruising through the Discord banter it even seems a good amount of people there are not happy with the price either. It's usually sunshines and rainbows over there. I'm wondering how many Def Jams they've sold at this point.

None of the anthologies really sell out anymore unless they hit swaps and 40% off

The one I didn't get that I wish I did was Willie. I'm sure it'll get repressed at some point. It was a GZ box so nothing quality-wise will be missed.

I had Willie favorited in shop app and at one point a tiny handful of copies popped up well after it sold out. I immediately grabbed it. Really nice set!

Also yes. People on discord seemed cool with it until price was revealed.

I'm pretty sure most of the people were like "250-299 we'd be fine" since that fits the amount of lps and the amount of albums more, still too expensive but more defendable.. 330 for week one is just bs

Storf was still stoking the FOMO saying that at this rate "it's not going to last the week".

I find the supporters of this box to be very interesting. It's one thing if you know it's overpriced and you just wanted it or could easily afford it, that's fine. It's another if you're trying to JUSTIFY the price just because you bought it.

The fact that they insist in saying there are 9LP just shows they know it's overpriced.

It’s just such a high price point…I get the idea that 9Lps is more expensive than 5 singles but still.

hope it doesn’t sell out so they don’t price shit like this moving forward. I get there’s a balance of numbers pressed vs trying to sell it out. But I looked up how much it is with tax and it’s $72 an album.

If it sells out, or sells enough at full price, it could lead to 2 types of box sets going forward:

1) ‘Story of…’ types at $45-55 per record, 2,000 units pressed. Doesn’t sell out quickly, but does when offers hit (Miles, Cadet, Willie).

2) Limited box sets (Def Jam). Higher price point $70+ per record, limited pressing (750ish) ensuring close to a sell out at full price.

My gut says Def Jam will move 300-400 units within the first 2 weeks due to deep pocketed collectors. Low stock tag hits, FOMO rises, and it will sell out before the need to put out any offer codes.
