Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Seems like this early bird special is about to bite them in the ass.

Sounding like they have a lot in stock still and the price is going up on Monday. Apparently the shop app is unreliable, but it's reporting 545 copies available.
You’d think that all the other anthos only selling out after they hit swaps and 40% off they would realize that prices were too high…but I guess when other people zig, VMP zags

The question is is this vmps fault completely... It's certainly partially they're fault... But def jam probably asked them for a lot of money too

The logistics of the deal are certainly in question. The only realistic justification is that they had to do a 10 bundle licensing and picked the best 5 or more that made sense to pack into an Anthology, and left the loosies for ROTM's.

That said, when I'm walking on the Atlantic City boardwalk at night and a guy asks me if I wanna buy some crack, I politely decline. VMP should have done the same. This is 100% their fault.

At least we're getting It's Dark and Hell is Hot as a ROTM out of all of this.

Clearly, you’ve never been “offered” crack by Russell Simmons before.

I’m sure licensing wasn’t cheap, but there’s no way Def Jam priced their royalties that required retail to be this high. VMP could have taken a lesser profit or shouldn’t have done it if the choice was to price this high.

The pricing for this just follows a pattern of similarly batshit pricing across the company. I’m thinking Barbie set, the Nonesuch prices, the full price for Love Movement etc etc etc

The cynic in me thinks that they’re happy to rake in a load at the front end through die hard VMPers on the full understanding that they’ll have to give a load back later in order to shift what’s left. Like… that’s actually the strategy. Maybe selling a third at full price covers what they lose when a $350 box hits swaps

We are emailing to let you know there has been an update to your order, The Grateful Dead Anthology. This product will be shipping in October 2024, and will be pressed at RTI.

We know most of you have been waiting a long time for this product to ship, and for that we apologize.
Update on the Dead box. At least it's something.

did they announce the repress before or after their exclusivity on Without a Net and Terrapin Station ran out and they showed up everywhere?
I mean it’s a repress of a box, I’m not sure that was a consideration. They probably announced it right at the edge of their license. Fucked up that it doesn’t seem to have a coupon code and that’s what’s wrong with them, different answers for everything.

They should just include “We’re sorry” stickers in the box every month.
We are sorry for (check as many boxes as necessary)
