Vinyl Me Please Anthology

So I’ve listened to both albums once and starting my second listen on the Silver album. They are flat and sound great. Curation is interesting. I would have never listened to these albums if it weren’t for the set. There is a lot of good music on them.

The box they come in looks good. We already know about the sleeves. I’m glad they are correcting that. When I sat down with both records it was almost instinct to read the liner notes. With Silver I got that, Gordon :cautious: A little disappointed they aren’t tip on, but that’s not a deal breaker.

I really do like the podcasts and will probably listen to them again after listening to the albums. They could do better with the content in the FB group. Hopefully I can make some time for the Was AMA.

I didn’t not expect all the percussion workouts on the Silver/Blakey album. It funny because I always thought Blakey’s connection wit African/Latin drumming evolved over his career, but it seems like it was there from the start.

Yeah this came up in the "we're pausing the forum" death thread. I'm pretty sure it was Cam too, but I can't remember who the forum member was. They linked to proof and it was pretty black and white what happened.

Well, I do believe that if you work for VMP you would probably do that, but in this case there was just straight up proof.

And of course, the way it was handled wasn't anything like "Oh shit, that IS how I heard of it! I totally forgot and fucked that up! I'm gonna change the article now and credit you at every appropriate opportunity!"

It would have sounded so positive to say they listened to an enlightened forum member, and pressed one of their suggestions.

That could have lead to more members and yes they would have been inundated with suggestions but how hard would it have been to sift through them via discogs and contacts to see how viable they are and boom, once a year issue 'the peoples choice'...

Um.... they are tip on?

is anthology worth it?
That’s the question. We won’t know until we have all six. Despite the issues... pressing wise, I’m going to lean towards “yes,” 1/3 of the way in. All the rest of the “experience,” outside of the podcast, gets a “meh.” @seeirwin not being an advertised feature is bonus!

The mistakes along with lie number five from the company solidified my decision to not give them anymore of my money.

For those keeping score:

1. The staff has not been directed to stay away from the forums, they’re all on vacation.

2. The hurricane that is three days away from our shipping center caused the delay in shipping your package (which was already delayed at that point)

3. I picked Experience Unlimited from Discogs, who is @The_Stoned_Ape ??

4. We’re closing the forums because we don’t give it the attention it deserves.

5. We intentionally gave you uncorrected cd album art and blue note sent it to us, we tried to get og copies for a scan but were unable to give you a quality product that way.

How much is it actually. They don't have the price on the webpage. usually when a company does that it's ridiculously expensive

Got my Anthology package today. Haven't removed the shrink, but it's number 800-something.

You were being an optimist. That's a positive thing.

I do think it's a fantastic way to do a box set. That's a game-changer (actually not being sarcastic about this).

I had three consecutive years of an annual subscription to VMP so I'm familiar with what to expect from them. As a result, when I read about the stereo labels on the mono record and the CD artwork on the sleeve, it didn't startle me. I knew what I was getting into when I purchased this VMP product. If I get outraged, given that I knew what to expect, that's on me.

I like the idea of the staggered release. I like the shipping not being from their 3rd-party logistics contractor (the box that arrived today appeared to be in good shape and nothing was rattling around) and I like that the pressings were done by RTI rather than GZ.

I dig Numero's curation but have gotten a few bad vinyl pressings from them. They press at URP in Nashville and that place is... bad. I buy Numero stuff on CD.

You're back! Awesome.

Glad you missed #6 where customer service starts being rude to customers and attacking them for reaching out about imperfections.
