Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I think the forums are just highlighting how out of depth all of the VMP staff are. Storf picked Juvenile's first album cause he remembers buying the CD at best buy as a kid meanwhile @The_Stoned_Ape gives us a thorough history of the label and potential releases. qed.
At the same time though, I think that was the entire value of the forums from VMP's aspect (albeit one they missed out on completely). I was, and am, more then happy to talk about New Orleans music history because it's something I care about deeply, you don't even need to pay me for it...Just like @HiFi Guy is willing to troubleshoot anyone's technical problems, the dude just cares. Storf may not have been able to tell me the history of Cash Money, but he could probably do a decent job at telling me about Stax or Motown.

But like I said when the forums were closing, it's like VMP had a whole group of really talented sub-contractors that were doing free work, and unfortunately that work was overlooked in the long run.

He @seeirwin , i really like your contributions here about the history and structure of jazz. I think it would about moving them to the General jazz or blue note threads, because it could spark discussions with more interested forumers, who have not signed up for the anthology and might miss your posts in here.

Even maybe post them to a medium account that might help integrates thoses YT videos ?

It might be worth having a new thread entirely. ‘Conversations in Jazz’ or something less derivative.

@seeirwin

The track Horoscope has some really interesting harmonies that stand out to me. When they play the head at the beginning, there is that motif that that he states then modulates up and modulates again, but then at the end of that part, the song hits a brick wall of dissonance. What’s going on there?

It’s not available anymore. It was to retail for $280, it sold out during the presale at $230.
I saw at least one person on the SH forums say they paid $280. I'm guessing there were cancellations and anyone who got to sign up for those spots paid $280.
I assume it’s just their social media person. Instead of getting links wrong for #tbt they just get to deal with me reporting all the mean people.
Do they have a dedicated social media person?

That's fair.. but Storf was the only one active in the hip-hop threads so maybe pick someone who knows about hip-hop to represent the company? In the same way that they apparently have no one that knows about jazz to write about it. I don't think that's too much to ask of a $10 million company.
I mean, they hired Storf as their magazine editor based on his hip hop review blog. Their entire hiring model seems to be anti-expert.
storf doesn't pick the hip hop ROTMs. he only does the classics ROTMs, it was probably another person if not multiple people who chose it for other reasons than just buying it at best buy

just wanted to get that fact out. no hard feelings
Storf absolutely helps select R&HH albums. Their write up on why/how Juvenile specifically said that he and Michael Penn compiled a list of desired albums from the Cash Money vaults. They aren't super siloed in their selection process, though each track has a person in primary charge.

I think they do but either that person is overridden or communicates to similarly as the rest of the public figures
It’s a shame they apparently follow that model on the operations end as well.
Non-business people started the company and I am not sure they have hired too many people to assist or again they get overridden

Hi All,

I received my first shipment, and the Horace record sounds incredible.

I did notice damage to both jackets and sent an email to anthology@. While the updated Dexter jacket should take care of that one, I’m am hopeful VMP will replace my Horace jacket.

I am curious, given this damage, is it something y’all would typically report?

I also received a nicely worded email from Stephen mentioning that they would replace my Horace jacket.
