Yeah! That’s what made me so surprised to see Ghost say that! Especially as he said that he wasn’t looking that forward to Stankonia being an Essentials ROTM on top!

Don’t get me wrong I think it’s a great album and some of my favorite songs by her are on there, same goes with Stankonia but I don’t think they’re worth $43 a piece, that to me is going to push me out of a lot of releases. Also when I put on records I have to be wary of how it’ll impact my fiancé as she’s prone to audio induced anxiety and both of those records start off very abrasively lol, a bit too rambunctious for a casual spin in my typically mellow household. Gotta keep the vibe tight, ya dig?

she’s gonna be over the mooooon with these classics picks though and Billie 🔥

I mean to be fair it isn’t getting a reissue from LITA. They’re just distributing it. It’s getting reissued by some Austrian label.

Fair enough that you don’t think they’re worth $43! At that price, you have to be critical and only albums you really, really want would be worth that price tag! 💯

In regards to your fiancé, if you ever get Mama’s Gun in the future, skip the first track when she’s around, and if she’s not around, it’ll be a perfect to play back to back with an album like Voodoo! 🦦

I’ve never heard the term audio induced anxiety! I can imagine what it’s like though! PJ Harvey’s 4-Track Demos would be a nightmare for your fiancé as that album made me continuously jump as it has very quiet passages then BURSTS of loud guitar distortion out of nowhere from those quiet moments! 😂😂😂

Even an album like Laura Nyro’s New York Tendaberry makes me jump a bit because Laura’s voice is so intense, loud and emotive one second, then so breathy, silent, and quiet another second! Like it’s so intense despite how beautiful the songs are lmao! 😂

Dreams is my favourite ROTM pick out of the three Essentials albums! It’s a masterpiece! So happy I discovered the album and that VMP is giving it the Classics treatment! ❤️🙌

I think this October is my favourite VMP month ever in terms of the 3 ROTM picks! OutKast’s Stankonia is my favourite Essentials pick from 2020, Redman’s Muddy Waters is my favourite Rap & Hip-Hop pick from 2020 and I think Gábor Szabó’s Dreams is my favourite Classics pick from 2020! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The October ROTM’s are all incredible! I’m so in love! 🥰

Even the November ROTM’s across all 3 ROTM tracks are all stellar! And the same goes for December! 💎

I honestly can’t believe how amazing all these 9 ROTM’s are! Feels too good to be true! 🙉

Yeah, she just gets really overwhelmed and feels like she needs to escape the environment. She used to feel that way about jazz when I first met her at 21, she would ask me to turn it off every time because she couldn’t understand how it was supposed to sound and couldn’t make sense of the notes. Nowadays it’s her favorite music genre and anytime she’s trying to relax she’ll throw on our jazz playlist and vibe out. Really proud of that fact lol, she still doesn’t like Coltrane much though, we’ll get there though.

Rarely, if ever, do I find myself sharing the same unbridled positive view on VMP that you have @NathanRicaud. But, you know what? I agree with you here.

Props where props are due, VMP actually provided the most solid 3 months in a row ever. I like all of the picks. Even though I’ll be passing on Mama’s Gun, I can’t deny it’s a great Essentials pick. I feel good about resubscribing.
 
I’m most interested in the Coleman Hawkins of the 3 classics picks - it sounds a little muddy on spotify so a clean remaster could sound really cool. But i’m struggling to get over the hump of paying $33 each as opposed to $23. And my kallax is full right now so that makes it easier to keep my money.
 
I have this pressing of Dreams from a blind buy (didn't indicate which pressing it was) for $12 from Deep Discount's ebay account earlier this year. I'm probably in for the VMP version to compare. I'm still hoping to find an original pressing for reasonable money, but that's unlikely so I'd like to see pressing details on the VMP.

I'm out on the other 2. The Hawkins just isn't my kind of jazz, and I already have an original pressing of the Donnie in amazing condition. Dreams & Everything Is Everything are amazing picks though. I highly recommend them!

I see there’s an OJC pressing that’s widely available and has good ratings on Discogs. Wondering if I can find any comments on it.
