Vinyl Me Please Classics

This

This is big? I didn't even notice it on mine. Trivial. Instead of bashing, I applaud them for being proactive and spending the money to reprint.
Spelling the title wrong on the spine of an expensive reissue is a big mistake to let through for a company with any pride in their quality control, period. Denying that is ridiculous. Don't understand how observing that is bashing. It is stating the obvious. You can still applaud them for doing the right thing to fix their big mistake.

I'm not sure that promising to fix it after customers discover it can be defined as proactive though. Seems reactive to me, which is still a hell of a lot better than nothing.

I think the fact that this is a Classics release is why. This is their boutique subscription line and they'll selling to fans who reputationally want exact replica artwork.
Yeah good point and I think they realise that they just cant make mistakes like this after their price hike. If they expect people to pay audiophile prices then the quality has to be there.
It’s hilarious that their logic for the price hike was that having fewer customers would reduce the amount of issues they’d have to deal with. Doesn’t appear to be working out that way.

Given how fast they responded to correct the mistake, makes me think they knew about it and were hoping nobody would notice. I bet they even had an office pool for when/if someone would find it.

So I received my copy of The Hawk “Files” High. I honestly would not have noticed the misspelling if it wasn’t pointed out on Reddit. Glad they’re sending out new jackets though.

As far as the music goes? What a delightful album and a wonderful sounding pressing. It certainly exceeded my initial impressions after listening to it on Spotify. I swear, Classics is the only reason I’m still putting up with VMP after all of the bullshit.

i saw on reddit one person got a double label... that seems VERY rare for QRP

Just catching up on spinegate. Is it safe to assume the "carrier delay" email was them just buying time to see if they were going to just ship the records as is then send an "apology" email after it was "discovered" by a customer, or delay the release altogether? I know, tinfoil hat engaged haha. Just odd to send that email (before the 15th) then receive a tracking 2 days later.

We know VMP lies about everything else. Why not this?

Yeah that's the same problem as the Dexter Gordon. They used the CD cover from '89. Not sure why they went with that version instead of the LP. Probably couldn't find one with ring wear to scan. At least they didn't use the CD back (I think).
That one was particularly frustrating because it even had the wrong BN catalogue number on it.

So what are people’s thoughts on the Donny Hathaway pick? I’m on the fence with it at the moment and am leaning towards swapping for Big Boi.

After streaming it a few times, I like it. But not sure if it’s something that will get spun all that often.
