I’m sure there will be some fidelity complaints. It sounds very much like a fifties record. However it is quiet, flat, & dynamic.

@Lee Newman A young Quincy Jones worked for Ms Washington when was working as a arranger in NYC. Mercury did not want to put a unknown arrangers name on the cover but Ms. Washington insisted and got her way.

Listened to this last night - it's really good! Dinah is great, the backing band is super and gets a lot of solo space, and it sounds good too (especially for 1955).

How was the VMP Sun Ship from a few months ago? I'm thinking of popping back in for a month to upgrade my Turn On The Bright Lights and throw in the Thin Lizzy. I probably should upgrade my 1997 Sun Ship too if this one is good.

Wasn't there an upcoming Classics Miles Davis title that leaked a while back? Obviously that first clue is too broad to narrow it down to which month but I'm guessing it'll be in this upcoming quarter.

Yes Miles' Starpeople was leaked to be coming in October.

If my math is correct, that will be 5 straight months where Classics is a jazz release? Lame, imo.

edit: and it's not that i don't like jazz, but I can barely keep up with the BN Classics and TPs, and I expect more diversity from Classics.

Six actually. John Coltrane, Dinah Washington, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, and then whatever November and December is.

REALLY lame. So this year we'll have had 1 Soul, 1 Blues, 1 Disco, and then NINE JAZZ selections. I love Jazz, but I expect more variety from this sub.
