Like I said, VMP is in a 'Fania' mode, any port in a storm. The marketing flyer also confirms Ray Barretto’s Acid for October Essentials which is probably the one I’m most looking forward to.
Acid is a great record, I will pick it up.

I mean I wouldn’t, and I don’t think most here would. It’s a label that’s not easy to find clean copies of, Barretto and Colon included. Certainly in need of high quality reissues and they’ve done a great job. Don’t think that lacks imagination at all, and IMO is quite bold. They well may be the standard, and are all very well done by Craft. I have quite a few. Colon and Barretto I would agree fall into 'neglected' status, and the VMP Celia Cruz is a phenomenal record.
La Lupe isn't criminally neglected, IMO it is cheesy. But AAA, tip on, top dog, straight from the source there are people who would jump all over Barry Manilow and Partidge Family reissues.
As if he kept that in the notes
Remember folks, he is a professional writer. Don’t try this at home.

He read the question and went oh that’s why he answered it that way. Let me ask what I was trying to ask in the booklet.I want to know what was edited and condensed for clarity if that stayed in
The weird part is that in the Koko Taylor booklet(one of the better ones, I'll let you guess as to why), the creation of Alligator is covered in full with the exact same interview subject.
Reminds me I should give that Wilson Pickett another go.Just got Hound Dog Taylor through the door and really enjoying it so far. It's a bit hot in some places, but I think that makes sense for a recording like such. Sounds great!
We need a reggae album again. Been way too long.I'm definitely in for Acid. Hector Lavoe and La Lupe not my cup of tea. Kinda frustrating that they do Salsa (pretty much just Fanta) in the Classics track but strictly no reggae or any other rootsy world music.
Giving this my first listen rn. Enjoying it so far
Reggae is severely underrated by VMP. So many great sounding reggae albums that would be perfect for a VMP release.I'm definitely in for Acid. Hector Lavoe and La Lupe not my cup of tea. Need to give this a listen. I only have the Rock stream but have no interest in System of a Down so I might swap for this
Finished my listen through, I’m passing on it. It’s pretty good but by no means essentialGiving this my first listen rn. Enjoying it so far
