Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Storf confirmed that it will not be Mos Def’s Black On Both Sides. Would’ve loved that to be the ROTM though!

We are thinking it’s going to be Prince Paul’s A Prince Among Thieves! Maybe with Prince Paul’s favourite De La Soul record as an exclusive - De La Soul’s Stakes Is High! 🤞

I’M SO EXCITED!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHH! 🥳
I've got an OG copy of Black On Both Sides which I haven't listened to in ages. Going to be getting that out tonight!

I was looking at your Instagram today and reading through your thoughts on the jazz albums you were spinning and I loved that most of the jazz records you had on the Instagram were first pressings! Such a joy reading through it all!

Your Instagram is like a really good-looking book, so full of energy and wisdom, I love it!!!

I LOVE you nathan, you are the best!!!

Thanks, its been so fun! I started it as a way of forcing myself to listen to different albums each day, and each time I write the write up I end up in a rabbit hole researching the record which I really enjoy as well! Its a strange one but I really enjoy the history of albums so its been a successful little task I set myself

I am so happy you did that! So good knowing your Instagram will always be there. I’ve even memorised the album covers in my head so then when I go Crate digging and see one of those albums, I’ll instantly get it (of course making sure it’s not a DOL or 4MWB pressing etc).

You have such a friendly, unharmful mannerism when digging into an album. Like if you were a cartoon character, you would be Arthur!

Hahaha cheers bud. Its Selaws.Spins (@selaws.spins) • Instagram photos and videos
I tend to mix it up as much as I can and basically post whatever record I fancy listening to that night. Tonights will be the Herbie Hancock Maiden Voyage I picked up yesterday.
Also, It seems like I need to hire @NathanRicaud as a hype man

1994 and 1999 are both very good years. Excited! I'll formulate some guesses later on! 😁

Agree on 1994, strongly disagree on 1999. Three of the best “alternative” albums of that year are ruled out: Wilco, Fiona, and Beck. Pavement’s Terror Twilight is fantastic but Pavement albums have been reissued to death (I know that hasn’t stopped VMP before). Maybe Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin?

Overall 1999 was not a good year for alternative rock IMO. 1994 in constrast is effing loaded with top-notch albums, out of which VMP will probably make a disappointing choice.

Just remember, we're talking Storf here. "Alternative rock" probably, and likely, means several things to him.

Here’s my guess:

that dog. - that dog.

It’s the 25th anniversary this year and they just reissued the deluxe edition digitally without any vinyl release. They also just released a new single last week and the new album is out October 4th. If exclusives are coming, I could see them having the new album as well as presses of Retreat from the Sun and Totally Crushed Out (fantastic albums with no vinyl readily (or ever) available). But this all makes too much sense to be true.
