They’re throwing out the one pick per artist rule and going with Midnight Vultures.
I got free tickets to see Smashmouth at a casino maybe 7 years ago. There were no more than 50 people in the arena, but they still played all the songs and joked around with the people in the audience and handed everybody cds . It was a fun time.WAIT! WAAAAIIIT!!!
1999???? ALTERNATIVE ROCK???
OH MY GOD IT'S HAPPENING!!!!
THE PROPHECY WILL BE FULFILLED!!!
Toadies would be dope too!
Rubberneck was so good. Possum Kingdom, I Come From The Water, Tyler, etc... this record would be a banger.Queens of the Stone Age - S/T is my guess.
I just wanna be like " hey thats a good pick". I want some rock and roll.

On their website it says they're getting a 20 anniversary edition with bonus tracks.(No idea if its VMP) And also a beer.Rubberneck was so good. Possum Kingdom, I Come From The Water, Tyler, etc... this record would be a banger.
They still play Possum Kingdom everyday on our Rock station in Philly . ( Along with Cake for an old conversation on here )Rubberneck was so good. Possum Kingdom, I Come From The Water, Tyler, etc... this record would be a banger.
Hoping for '94 as Essentials - an embarrassment of riches for alternative albums to pick from.
Almost impossible for them to screw it up. Almost
Smash Mouth is hands down the most entertaining Twitter account I follow. It's all about baseball and "All Star".I got free tickets to see Smashmouth at a casino maybe 7 years ago. Agree on 1994, strongly disagree on 1999. Three of the best “alternative” albums of that year are ruled out: Wilco, Fiona, and Beck. Pavement’s Terror Twilight is fantastic but Pavement albums have been reissued to death (I know that hasn’t stopped VMP before). Maybe Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin?
Overall 1999 was not a good year for alternative rock IMO. 1994 in constrast is effing loaded with top-notch albums, out of which VMP will probably make a disappointing choice.
Storf said it's not Fiona on RedditFiona When the pawn... Was released Nov '99 why is that ruled out?

Because Tidal was already an Essentials pick and they have not (to date) repeated artists on the same track.
I thought the Nat Turner Rebellion was a pretty cool thing that they recently did, But yeah the bargain bin represses have been a bit disappointing.Man, that reminds me of the days when VMP was dropping things like TIDAL and not just color represses of the Amazon under $15 bin
And Tidal was a month after Demon Days.Man, that reminds me of the days when VMP was dropping things like TIDAL and not just color represses of the Amazon under $15 bin
