Vinyl Me Please Essentials

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers would be an amazing 1994 alternative album. They don't remotely possess the balls to pick that though!

From over here Suede's masterpiece Dog Man Star or Pulp's His N Hers would be pretty ace picks.
Those would all be great picks. đź‘Ś

A club sending 30,000 copies of albums out to a cross section of socie.ty may not pick an album with Starfuckers Inc. on it or another with Yes and Of Walking Abortion on it. Just a hunch. They wouldn't pick the Manics because America but if they did i guarantee it would be Everything Must Go or This Is My Truth... I don't think they'd ever pick NIN for an essentials

So in short picking albums with their content on essentials takes balls, critically regarded or not.
The sent clipse out as essentials that is lyrically probably as edgy as the two and musically they sent out something like the books. So i see lots of things to criticise in vmp but they have shown to pu outalbums where they might get backlash.

Of course. We all know it's going to be Hootie.

You know, I hated that album when it came out. It was '94, and I was all about Sonic Youth, Sugar, and wore out my first copy of DGC Rarities Volume 1, just to give you some perspective.

Finally heard the album two years ago in its entirety for the first time and, reluctantly I say, it has aged well. Not everyone's cup of tea, but there's some decent songs on there that are deep cuts. If you don't believe me, I recommend "Not Even The Trees."

If they're going NIN, they should go all out and pick Downward Spiral from 1994. It would take balls of steel for them to release something with "Closer" on it.

I remember Closer getting regular airplay on the radio so I don’t think it would be all that ballsy...

You want ballsy?

Beck - Midnite Vultures

But it’s the RHH album, not Essentials
