Well 2 of them are imoWould be a big turnaround from last month if we got Stooges, Rick Ross and Otis. Top tier
Someone confirmed Stooges on reddit. Very happy with this pick!
Any idea how different the Cale mix is? I have the regular press from 2010 that was supposedly cut from the Cale masters.Someone confirmed Stooges on reddit. Very happy with this pick!

I do agree the Stooges is an essential pick but why the John cale mix and not the original.
Rick Ross is the only real "really they chose that?" Decision but that's more because i don't find it a modern classic
Turns out someone got it and posted it on Instagram
And I found out who the person isLmfaoooo what the hell
The color of the vinyl looks black, that’s fun
I think that this is a fantastic curio for Stooges fans to have in their collection, but in terms of members who don't really know The Stooges I think that this is generally a disservice to this album. The Cale mix is tinny and distorted and while it's definitely interesting in terms of the differences between it and the wide release mixing in my opinion it's a much tougher listen than the wide release. It's certainly more raw, it certainly sounds more "punk", but in my opinion it's inferior to the wide release mix. But I also have the Bowie and the Iggy Raw Power Mix along with the Iggy Raw Power Mix/KG remix so this wouldn't be the first duplicate Stooges album in my collection. But seriously, if you don't know this album, I'd suggest checking out the KG remaster before you make the JC mix your go to...Funny I find the opposite. I find the Cale mix feels like a band running through their set for the first time in the studio, a bit unsure of themselves. But also probably because I have been listening to the original probably 30yrs before I heard the Cale version.
That said I remember the Cale mix was interesting as most of the songs were significantly shorter and they were sequenced in a different order. Maybe heard in isolation from the original might make a difference
The original album is essential. The Cale mix is a curio at best.I'm not that familiar with The Stooges, is this a record fans have been clamoring for for decades? It was rejected by the label and the band right? Serious question: Why is this "essential"?

Agreed. Very odd pick to give us an alternative mix to a classic album. It’s not like the Cale mix is seminal. It’s just different. Any of the three original Stooges albums would have been a great choice, though they all have been reissued to death. The original album is essential. The Cale mix is a curio at best.
