I know, I love that Diana Ross track! Love Nile Rodgers production on that one! But my favourite Diana Ross song is "It's My House"! That song is such a vibe, and I love the live performance of that song too! Can't wait to have my own house in the future and then play that song! LOL just joking, I'll never own a house!

Also, Minnie Riperton would be a big get! She is quite well known, especially for hit “Lovin You”, and is definitely more ‘popular’ than Mavis Staples for example, who was an Essentials December pick a few years ago!

Not as popular as Aretha Franklin or Nina Simone but I think Minnie Riperton would be a popular pick, especially if it gets the AAA, 180g treatment!

To this day , just last night in fact I still have arguments with my dad that The Staple Sisters I’ll take you there isn’t about Horse racing .

He also thought Drift Away by Dobie Gray was about The Beach Boys . When Dobie was alive and the internet was young I actually emailed Dobie and asked him who was correct and he confirmed that the lyrics are not Give me The Beach Boys.

Yeah, I think you’re right! I know Erykah Badu has been compared to Minnie Riperton, but so has Mariah Carey! Like, Mariah Carey gets compared to Minnie Riperton moreso than Erykah Badu!

So yeah, looks more likely to be Billie Holiday if it is in fact Erykah Badu we’re getting! I’ll be extremely happy with Billie Holiday!

I just really hope we get OutKast for October Essentials and Erykah Badu for November Essentials!
