Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Live Through This is one of the best rock albums of the 1990s, and Courtney Love is a badass.

That said Nirvana + Hole combo makes no sense, because they’re much too similar in style to be Essentials in back-to-back months. People need to get back to the drawing board. @duke86fan is probably on the right track.

I got Live Through This from VMP when they did one of those mental sales with an extra % or the bonus credit nonsense one that crashed the site. Think it was $6

So our main guess still relies on our assumption that the person responsible for all written content coming from vmp does not know the meaning of the word spouse?

I just went to look up how many weeks it was at #1, and found different sites claiming this was actually the #1 song on my birthday, July 31st

...and now I'm just waiting for a 45th anniversary pressing for 2021 Classics :ROFLMAO:

This is the song to get behind right here.

I already know I will love the December Essentials ROTM pick, because it will be a Classics type of ROTM! 💯😎

I just really hope we get OutKast for October Essentials and Erykah Badu for November Essentials! 🤞

I'm just gonna throw this out there.
Recently, VMP changed:
a) the rollout/announcement format (3 at at time vs. every month);
2) the website;
iii) the Logo; and
finally) the pricing.

These are all pretty substantial changes.
SO, IF we are assuming things about Storf's grasp of the english language and given the above, isn't it equally fair to assume that Dec. WON'T be a classics type ROTM?

That and Storf late last year heavily implying Stankonia was coming as an Essential ROTM in the second half of 2020. It's always possible that things fall apart or get pushed back, however and what was true last December may not be true now.

But given how "accurate" Storf's clues have been, particularly of late, yeah I would in no way discount him misusing the word "spouse."

Design by Kodi S., our very first VMP sticker contest winner. Learn more in our full update linked below.
When we started VMP nearly eight years ago, we had one idea in mind: build a place that could bring people together through music. A place that could have an impact by telling stories, by facilitating human connection, and by expanding perspectives. How did we intend on doing this? Through the exploration of the best music history has to offer.
For nearly eight years, this has been the motivating force behind VMP. The goal of this is not just to help you build a bigger record collection, but to facilitate journeys through music that leave a lasting impression. There’s a lot that goes into bringing this to life — from the curation, to production, to storytelling, and every detail in between — and the work is never truly done.
As we continue on this journey, we are excited to share another round of updates that include details on shipping & fulfillment timelines, a tip on our upcoming Essentials ROTMs, and new features available for members. Plus, you’ll get to know Alex, our Head of A&R, in our employee spotlight.
Click here to read the full update.
Lastly, we’ve received a lot of feedback over the last few months about shipping timelines, customer service reply times, and other things that affect your experience. I want you to know that we’re listening to all of it. We see how these issues take away from the joys of being a member of the VMP community and we’re working on fixing them. We have a lot of work to do, and many exciting plans that we’ll share in future updates.
Until then, we thank you once again for being on this journey with us. We are excited to continue exploring music together.
Keep spinnin’,

FYI, the VMP update I just received has a hint for the next 3 ROTMs and doesn't use the word "spouse" but rather "romantically linked".
This is what was said:
"Our October Essentials ROTM features someone who was romantically linked to our November Essentials ROTM artist, who was compared often on their first album to our December Essentials ROTM artist."

Did the original misleading hint say the second artist comparison was specifically with "their first album"? It of course only solidifies the OutKast/Badu/Holiday theory.

Any guesses on which Badu album we might be getting?

And going back to Billie Holiday, I went with Lady Sings the Blues as it was kind of her last "great" album, right when her voice was beginning to give out. Something from her prime would be great but then it'd probably end up having to be a compilation of sorts, given we'd be going back to the 1930s and 40s.

Not unheard of to make a compilation for Essentials, but unless there was some old definitive compilation release of her early work I'm not familiar with, I think VMP will go with one of her proper albums. I know @NathanRicaud wants Lady in Satin, but I dunno, it's not exactly the best album that showcased her vocals, given it came out right around the time she died.

They put Lady in Satin on the 10 best vocal jazz albums list they published.

This wasn't necessarily indicative of the records they chose in the past because lots of those best of list in the magazine were written by freelancers not involved with vmps selection process
