Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Give it a shot. A lot of her music is pretty widely critically acclaimed, certainly seems to be more than Huey Lewis is. It isn't for me personally, and I don't really get it, but the judgement against her here seems a bit extreme.
Sade is highly respected by many of the greatest artist of Hip Hop and R&B as well as other great musicians from other genres.MF Doom,2Pac,Big Boi,Rakim,Talib Kweli,Missy Elliott,Souls of Mischief,Clipse,Kanye,Beyonce,Aaliyah & Brandy the list could literally go on and on.

I've got Fela Soul (Fela Kuti De La Soul), The Miseducation of Eunice Weymon (Nina Simone and Lauren Hill) and Bizarre Tribe (Tribe Called Quest and Phar Cyde) all on vinyl and they are all fantastic.
The only mashup I've ever bought on vinyl is Bullion's Pet Sounds in the Key of D (Beach Boys/Dilla). Most of them are blocked on Discogs, but TTL seems to sell them now and again (I believe where I got the aforementioned).

Honestly one of my locals seems to get them in pretty regularly so I grab them when I see them. These are all Amerigo and the masters are actually pretty damn good. The pressings tend to be poppy but it's a mashup, I don't care to much about that.

I imagine the company that made the one I got did a similar thing, a 20p carboot find and a massive mark-up :ROFLMAO:
I don’t despise U2 but I think the only album I would ever add to my collection would be Achtung Baby. I have enjoyed a few of their singles over the years, If I believed in Greatest Hits comps they would be a good Greatest Hits band maybe.
Try the EP: Wide Awake in America

And for those that don’t dig Sade there’s always this, which IMO is really awesome too...

LOL, The National is one of the acclaimed bands I despise the most. Them and U2. That one is a visceral hatred from all the way back when I was a teenager growing up in the 80s.
Funny you would say that because I use to have a hate on for U2 when I was younger and now I can actually appreciate their music, well the old stuff at least.

not feeling it to hip for my taste.
I know this has been said a lot of times but...

There’s only one Sade Adu! Her voice is just so timeless and can’t be touched! Sade’s vocals are jazzy, husky, deep, delicate, smooth, soothing yet expressive and heartfelt!

Like every Sade cover version I hear doesn’t impress me because Sade is very classy, unique and expressive and is a one of a kind! 💎

I can’t wait until I finally receive the Boxset and spin all the Sade albums! 🙉

i really enjoy the Deftones cover of No Ordinary Love they did that song justice and it's the only Sade cover i've ever heard that i enjoy.

I actually understand where you’re coming from! I definitely understand the sophisticated middle aged dinner party vibe, and it’s just like music to be played for the sake of matching the vibe! 🤝

I love Sade so much though! I love how elegant, fragile, glamorous, indulgent and luxurious a lot of their music is! 😍🦚💎

Sophisticated was in quotation marks for a reason...

I'm convinced the hype over Is This It has to be a "you had to be there" kind of thing because I get almost nothing from that album. I guess I can see why it might have been a big deal in 2001 but I just find it very blah.

It was. It was a bit like Nevermind in 91 in that alternative music had gone really shit and it was kinda the fresh new thing that earmarked a change in direction and it all become fresh again. Also, whilst I like both, just like nevermind it’s nowhere near as good as it’s reputation.

And.......The National are so overrated! Their music is so boring, safe, white-collar, mid 30’s drinking wine thinking their the shit, teachers pet, doesn’t want to go clubbing because they’re they’d rather stay with their partner, unattractive, dull and monotonous ! 🥱🥱🥱

The National’s music isn’t arousing at all, and is just so unattractive and unsexy! Like, their music is so dry...🙅‍♂️🥱

I mean something doesn’t have to get your dick up to be good, we’re all a bit deeper than that I’d hope.

But I like Nevermind so this does not fit my narrow-minded narrative 🤔 honestly tho I think I prefer the other two Nirvana albums to it? hard to say, I'd have to listen again... haven't sat down to listen to any of the Nirvana albums all the way through in many years now that I think about it 😮

To recap ...

U2 are brilliant, especially live and they have at least 2 classic albums in The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby

Never mind and This Is It are great albums

Sade will be forever associated with Gary Davis and 80s cocktail music in the U.K. and her albums are available for £3 a plenty in U.K. record fairs

I have spoken

I’m feeling a bit grumpy this morning ....blame the antique pop up fair I went to yesterday ..one vinyl guy who wouldn’t negotiate a jot on a couple of Zep albums ..wanted £35 for two 80s pressings ...good condition but certainly not mint etc ...I offered £25 (£12.50 an album) and he would not budge ...

So I walked away ..but still smarting ..don’t think he will shift vinyl at those prices to loads of oldies looking at china and jewellery

Live at Reading is up there with my fave all time live albums and I play it a lot. Out of the bunch Nevermind probably gets played the least but i'd also say it's the Nirvana album I have most affection for as that was the album that I discovered first and opened up a whole genre to me. I get SLTS and Come as You Are have become radio friendly unit shifters as time has moved on and the over exposure of those two tracks is probably what stops me from playing Nevermind more often but, to be honest, any album with Breed, Lithium, Territorial Pissings, Lounge Act, Something in the Way, Drain You.... it can only be considered as one thing and that's a big fat belter.

But I've enjoyed the dribs and drabs of live stuff that ahs been released of late. The added live album to Bleach is great, Paramount is excellent and the MTV Live and Loud that was previously bundled with In Utero is excellent too. Live Nirvana is definitely where it's at for me these days.

I picked up the one with Smooth Operater on in great condition for 50p. (Just before Vinyl became cool again and charity shops gouged up the prices.)

Now I know why I like the national
