I’m going to get so much shit for this, but I think it’s a cheap, fan project, sounding project! Literally was talking about this yesterday with
@BazookaTooth !
He was like “Sadevillain is brilliant” and I was like ‘it’s overrated!’
‘Sade and Madvillain’s music is mystical, true to their aesthetic and very unique, but I think this project isn’t unique and takes away from both of them!
I think when MF DOOM samples “Kiss Of Life” on the track Doomsday, it was executed perfectly! The sample is spot on and MF DOOM’s effortless, easy-going flow is amazing!
And you what’s even more impressive, the ‘Is It a Crime?’ sample on MF DOOM’s Kon Karne! That sade sample is absolutely stunning! DOOM’s reflective, reminiscent tone with that tinkling, dancing, swaying piano loop is beautiful!’
Because of those samples, Sadevillain occurred and unfortunately Sadevillain sounds like a fan project; cheap, non-innovative and unimpressive compared to how DOOM samples. Yes, the music is pretty enjoyable because you’re putting together two amazing artists, but the project is not innovative enough for me and falls flat.
Sadevillain is overrated AF in my opinion. Full stop! Like it doesn’t have the finesse of MF DOOM or Sade!
