One of the artist is not a rapper though - Erykah Badu. It was an odd choice for VMP to even make Erykah Badu a R&HH ROTM.Seems a bit surprising that they would do two artists in a row that were already done in the RHH track.
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOone person on reddit is guessing its joni mitchell, leonard cohen, and bob dylan..
probably not
New Amerykah Part One Is probably her best album. What’s not exciting about that?!New Amerykah Part One or Part Two aren’t as big and exciting to be an Essentials ROTM in my opinion!
New Amerykah is a magnificent album and I’d be very happy with that being the Essentials ROTM, but it’s not as popular as her first two albums!New Amerykah Part One Is probably her best album. What’s not exciting about that?!
It is a very overplayed song. For some weird reason, a song being overplayed doesn't affect my feelings towards it. I still love the song Bad Guy by Billie Eilish even though that was played non stop last year. Even when Bad Guy came on for the 4th time in a day on the radio at work, I was like "yay, love this track"!Hey Ya is on the list if "songs so overplayed that I never need to hear it again."
It got #1 in Australia! But yeah, it wasn’t a #1 hit worldwide, but it did get #1 in the US too. It was overall a big hit worldwide! Hey-Ya is a classic for me! It’s a weird, funky, fusion, timeless song that is just so playful and has so much charisma!
Yaaaaaaas! Just listen to the song! Those acoustic guitars on that song were inspired by The Smiths! Absolutely genius! Hey Ya is the definition of a song that has that ‘complex simplicity’ aspect executed flawlessly! It really is a monster of a track - it’s a sweaty, moshpit banger that is just endlessly fun!So, to clarify, you feel "Hey Ya" is an ambitious, weird, incredibly catchy, funky, lively fusion, electrifying and energetic timeless classic that is just a monster of a song that's so playful and charismatic that it'll never be surpassed as an exciting and musically strong masterpiece?

The guitar part on the song is "simple simplicity", there's nothing complex or genius about it. I don't doubt that he was inspired by The Smiths but that's like anyone adding a minor chord to a progression saying they were inspired by The Smiths. I've heard the song (a lot) and it's a great song but to describe the acoustic guitar part as "absolute genius" is an extreme exaggeration at best.
Yes, but you need to take into account the @NathanRicaud Everything Is Awesome! Conversion Rate. So, a real-world simple guitar progression, lead line, synth stab, what-have-you is genius. When encountered with a real-world genius musical piece his face literally melts off (ok, real world it is a figurative face melt but, again, gotta convert - I'm working on an app to make it easier 'cause right now it takes some complicated formulas). The guitar part on the song is "simple simplicity", there's nothing complex or genius about it.
