I think the combo of a late eve Wind up post arriving to you at 8am doesn’t translate so well
If that’s how you want to view it, ok then!I don't think it’s a joke because:
1. Nathan has a long history of being open about not giving a shit about what artists do so long as he enjoys the music; and
2. He’s not that clever.
Also @NathanRicaud stop with sloppy Joe, NOW! I don’t need weird, offensive pet names from you.
Yeah @NathanRicaud you really mustn’t think that much of me if you think I want a new Moz or Adams record and would give new money to either artist. I already owned pretty much everything by both and I’m not quite sure what to do with all the Moz solo or Adams stuff that’s already in my collection but I know I’m not giving either the creep or the racist any more money.
If it makes you feel better, Morrissey has ALWAYS been an asshole.I know Adams is a creep.. but is Morrissey a racist now? That makes me sad.

I kinda wish sometimes I had that attitude... Although would say 'I dont agree with their actions' is underselling it when it comes to someone with a history of repeated offenses against underaged individuals (including kidnap, rape and making child pornography)If that’s how you want to view it, ok then!
I do care about the behaviour of artists, but I guess not enough to put me off from enjoying their music. I don’t agree with their actions of course, but I don’t feel bad for enjoying it!
I am clever too! I’m actually very smart! ☯

Each to their own bud and I understand how people can feel the music being disconnected to the artist, especially if its a song which has sentimental value to you.If that’s how you want to view it, ok then!

Personally the negative actions of a musician outside of their music always leaves a bad taste in my mouth (at the best) which tarnishes their music as a result. Whilst at uni my girlfriend's sister came to stay with us and, being on uni campus, we decided to see if anyone was playing at the local venue. We turned up at the door and bought cheap uni tickets to see.....Lost Prophets. Now I was never a fan of theirs anyway and only knew the 'rooftops' song, but it turned out that it was the last gig they performed before the lead singer was arrested for owning a ton of child porn. Even talking about the gig now makes me feel queasy and certainly tarnished the memory of that weekend.

mmmmmm I totally get understand you! I've got a question then...Is Miles Davis' discography tarnished due to his abusive behaviour/him being a wife-beater? I am sure you're a massive Miles Davis' fan, so I'm interested to hear your thoughts! Each to their own bud and I understand how people can feel the music being disconnected to the artist, especially if its a song which has sentimental value to you.

Yeah I just couldn't bring myself to write any of it. The guy is scum and I'm glad he's locked away.I hate to tell you but thats actually by far the least offensive of the things that he was convicted of. His crimes were genuinely disturbing and his attempts to groom new victims, through their mothers, from behind bars shows a really evil shit with no remorse.

Great example and one that I have mixed feelings about. I've read a lot of Miles Davis biographies and do own a lot of his music. It's true he did beat his wives and to be honest I don't think he was an overly nice person. Everything I have read, including his chunky autobiography, gives me the impression that he wasn't a particularly nice character. His life was also very troubled (drugs, racism, etc), which obviously does not justify his behaviour, but I'm sure accounts for his anger or hatred. I believe he did apologies to his ex-wife in his book, although likely half-heartedly, but I'm not sure that makes up for it.mmmmmm I totally get understand you! I love Miles Davis so much! He's the artist which I have the most records in my collection! And nearly all of them are MoFi pressings!
He kinda always was, the signs were always there. Bengali in Platforms probably should have been more of a sign than it was taken as, and he fell out with the NME when they called him out for playing up to the National front element of madness’ crowd when supporting them in the early 90s. He then fell out for a second time with NME for giving out about immigration in an interview and bemoaning the loss of the “English Way” in the late 00s. He then called the Chinese a sub-species over their animal rights record and finally he’s been in bed with a far right, islamaphobic, anti immigrant political party in the UK for the last 3 or 4 years.
I know he's always been a bit of a wanker and has tickets on himself. The other stuff posters have mentioned is really disappointing, I didn't realise he had shitty views when it stems to other races. It's possible to call out a nation for their animal rights abuses without referring to them as a "sub-species", for example.. less possible, probably more a requirement if you don't want to come across as a massive bigot.
I really love how much you read, especially on jazz artists you listen to! You know so much background information, it's honestly really impressive and actually inspiring too! I want to read more about Miles Davis' and his lifetime as well as I'm sure it would've been very interesting!Great example and one that I have mixed feelings about. I know its bad to say it but I suppose the level of the problematic act makes compartmentalising a musician from their music. What the Lost Prophet musician did makes me feel physically sick and over rides my feelings towards the music he produced. Worth mentioning that theres a Miles Davis film starring Don Cheadle which actually includes scenes of him attacking his wife. Pretty controversial at the time, which is crazy as its Davis that did the beating in the first place and to hide it away is surely worse?
