Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Because Big Boi will be the December R&HH ROTM. By the time Sir Lucious Left Foot gets released, Big Boi would of had to of been on an Essentials ROTM (Stankonia), and a Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM (Southernplayalisticadilacmuzik)!

Do you get where I’m coming from? Unless you can prove that Waka Flocka Flame will have been on an Essentials and Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM!

This proves that it won’t be Common for the October Essentials, due to the Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM clue Storf just gave!
HE RESTS HIS CASE YOUR HONOR

Ah I see...it seems weird to say they have already been on an essentials album when that album isn't even released yet but that also seems like something Storf would do.

I really hope we get some Erykah Badu side Exclusives to go with her Essentials ROTM! Baduizm would be an amazing exclusive to accompany Mama’s Gun! I would be very happy with any Erykah Badu album that VMP hasn’t already pressed, to be a side exclusive to Mama’a Gun! 😇

I love Mama’s Gun so much too! It’s an amazing album and I cannot wait to pick up the VMP pressing for it! I’m looking really forward to seeing what the packaging looks like and what the pressing details will be! 🙇‍♂️

Trying to remember what the last side exclusives were with an essentials? Not counting the White Stripes 7"...was it De La?

And before Dirty Projectors, it would’ve been The Flaming Lips (which had two side exclusives to accompany the Essentials ROTM)!

As matter of a fact, I'm so on the fence about Stankonia. Like once I finish with So Fresh, So Clean, and Ms. Jackson I'm kinda detached from the rest of the listen because it never gets that good again. B.O.B. is a great song but most days will just prompt me to call it a day as I'm very rarely in the mood to listen to such a fast and raucous song. Maybe I'm just a 25 year old grandpa but if next month is Stankonia and Redman's Muddy Waters, I can't help but feel that Redman ends up being the more exciting hip hop album.

I would prefer Like Water for Chocolate honestly, to me it’s a more interesting project as a whole and the Dilla production on there is some of his best. Would be geeked for that, we’ll probs get Stankonia though :/
Like Water For Chocolate is a really good album! I love spinning it, and like you said, Dilla’s production on that album features some of this best work!

In saying that though, I think Stankonia is by far a better album! It’s such a diverse, eccentric, quirky, explosive album that features incredible production. Stankonia is much more of an interesting album in my opinion as it pushes the boundaries of hip-hop!

I guess this is when subjectivity comes in to play. During my hip hop head phase I always saw Like Water For Chocolate as the more elite/important project and always found it to be a more consistent project. Stankonia never stuck with me.

It’s great that next month’s R&HH ROTM is a great pick; Redman’s Muddy Waters, so you can swap your Essentials ROTM for that! 🙌

My head is swirling.
I can't tell what we know vs. what we think we know and are just assuming what we think we know is not an assumption but an absolute fact.

Am I right the only evidence we have for Oct. being Stankonia, is: 1) something Storf said; 2) months before the Corona; 3) months before the price change; 4) months before the logo change; and 5) months before the 3 at once announcements began?

It's like we have a Tucker Carlson monologue going. We are starting with an assertion, as if it were an absolute fact that maybe some more critical thinking might prove to be totally way out in right field, and building a house of cards/argument based on it.

I mean basing something on what Storf said months ago is the evidentiary equivalent of a post from Q.

I'm not saying Stankonia is wrong, but to convince me we aren't on some wild goose chase, I need more evidence than: ["Storf talked about it months ago"]+ [It "fits" if we reverse engineer October by filling in Nov. and Dec. picks that would make October work] + 150,000 heart emojis related to the pick.

Mmmmm it is all subjectivity in the end! For the year 2000, Like Water For Chocolate wasn’t in my favourite hip-hop albums of the year unfortunately. If we’re talking about Dilla’s best production from that era/year, it goes to Slum Village’s Fantastic Vol. 2!

My five favourite hip-hop albums of 2000 are:

1. OutKast - Stankonia
2. Quasimoto - The Unseen
3. Slum Village - Fantastic Vol. 2
4. Ghostface Killah - Apollo Kids
5. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030

Reflection Eternal’s Train of Thought and Nelly’s Country Grammar would have been next on the list.

Still, Like Water For Chocolate is a great album! I love the overall sound of it! It has that alternative neo-soul sound I love!

Big Boi being the R&HH ROTM pick for December confirms Stankonia being the October Essentials pick. The clue Storf just gave for the 2010 December R&HH ROTM pick was “this artist was on a R&HH and Essentials ROTM”! Because of that clue, we’ll be getting Stankonia for the October Essentials ROTM!

Also, Erykah Badu’s Mama’s Gun will be the November Essentials pick, and Billie Holiday will be the December Essentials pick! It all lines up perfectly!
