Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Protection is an awesome album. There was an evolution between each record that went with the times. Protection is definitely better than Mezanine.

Tracey Thorn, Tricky, Horace Andy !!

I'm calling the police.

EDIT: Not that it's bad. The title track is one of my faves, and Karacoma is definitely their most memorable video, but Mezzanine IMO is a start to finish absolute epic journey.

Another edit: No, Teardrop was their most memorable video, Karmacoma is right behind.

It's strange that VMP's membership is ludicrously overpriced, but yet as we've seen, the one month price at $43 is better than buying directly from Cloud Hills at $64. May be signing up for that one....

One thing you have to take into account here, is that no matter how ludicrous VMPs membership price may seem, Cloud Hill absolutely told VMP to hold its beer when it came to the price of these individual albums. They are total madness.

I'm saying though: I will never not be in a mood for Mezzanine. Once that bass starts kicking in on Angel it's fucking go time. By the end of Group Four into (Exchange) you know you've just heard something special.

I would say the same for Protection. The only version of light my Fire......

Y'all are seriously sleeping on Heligloland. That to me is Massive Attacks best album followed by Mezzanine and Blue Lines.
I wonder if there's something more urgent than calling the police...

If the rest of the album lived up to "Girl I Love You" and "Paradise Circus" then we'd be talking.

I’m listening right now and I remember why I liked it so much. I was super into the complex time signatures/changes, the sprawling song structures, the angular guitar playing, the wild vocals and just how.. aggressively prog it was.

My tastes have clearly changed though because it’s not hitting me the same way it used to. Gonna give it some more time, maybe I’ll rediscover my love for them.
I'm with you. Have super fond memories of that album. Saw them on the tour after, show was great, got high in the parking lot with some of them. Great memories, but it's not where I"m at now. Super happy for others who are excited, but the likes of Merle Haggard and Dorothy Ashby get me going these days and all said I'm OK with getting old :)
