Good call. I shoulda included them and Money Mark.Luscious Jackson too.
Still, I would say demon days or the Fionas or even that stooges album in a previously unreleased mix were bigger gets for vmp than revolver would be. Sure you're not getting any bigger and more essential than the Beatles but chances are high what you would be getting is a colour variant of a remaster that is widely available in black for cheaper everywhere else.
That's a good call, I wasn't aware of that one.My money is on it being the Blues Breakers. It’s such a VMP choice. Especially in a situation where there is a plethora of beloved popular albums it could be instead

SGT Barry Sadler. The numbers of B-related essential albums from 66 is kinda crazy. All of which I already own a copy of: Pet Sounds and Revolver are 1&2 on my all-time list. But there's also Dylan, BB with EC, and East West. All more essential than most "Essentials". This is where they go with a complete curveball, right.
Newbury me pleaseIs getting the Beatles that exciting considering it would only be a color variant of something they’re gonna press a bazillion cheap copies of in standard black until the end of time?
You forgot possibly my favorite Beatles track album of all time…people keep saying that revolver is probably the best beatles album and yeah it has some pretty good songs (taxman, elenor rigby, here there everywhere) but is it really a masterpiece with all the more just "ok" tracks like dr robert or even I'm only sleeping, which i never really was a fan of... maybe the 2009 mix butchered the loudness or energy the original album had but i have the same "i wish i liked it more" attitude i had with rubber soul
(sgt peppers is their best, and maybe the white album sometimes.. maybe it has to do with the louder mixing or something)

Revolver is a tight record. All killer, no filler. It probably just depends on what you are looking for in a Beatles album.

Revolver is a super tight record, All killer, no filler. I don’t think any song on the album exceeds 3 minutes in length. It probably just depends on what you are looking for in a Beatles album.
“Tomorrow Never Knows” still blows my mind, often imitated, never duplicate. For a band like the Beatles to make music like that is bonkers.thats fair.. i never really talked about Tomorrow Never Knows because embarrassingly.. I've barely listened to it, i owned the CD but never got to it by the time i got back from the car ride... i think I'm more into the harder beatles tracks and the more artsy stuff, where the more lackadaisical tracks kinda just bored me
(also listening to it louder mildly helps)
Ringo tracks are never my favorite.Yellow fucking turding Submarine….
Other than that, yeah it’s killer!
i can see the love of it... i just have heard other wall of sound music that was made after it so i am not as attached..“Tomorrow Never Knows” still blows my mind, often imitated, never duplicate. For a band like the Beatles to make music like that is bonkers.

its one of those albums that's timeless but by being timeless it also feels to compare it to either modern works of noise or the traditional classic rock of the day (abbey road may also have that issue for me... they are both solid B tier, probably even A tier beatles albums... just not the best stuff ever made like some claim)
i mostly just meant the noisy background sound.. where it feels more noisy and heavy.. using it the same way a noise rocker would use a wall of soundWall of sound?
