Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I was just talking to Marshall about this, I think we're getting into a situation here where the vinyl boom is hurting VMPs ability to do a lot of albums because so many labels are just doing their own reissues and special editions. So I think the pool that VMP used to be able to pull from has gotten so much smaller that they're being forced into situations like this, assuming the double Kasey and Madlib are actually true (though honestly I can't imagine it's Shades, can't see Bluenote allowing that).

I can also see some artists/labels conditioning VMP reissues on doing multiple albums from an artist. The fact that Kacey is back to back months is not ideal (and I like both albums as I already have them on vinyl)

You guys don't remember that sweet period in the 90s where every pop punk band suddenly loved ska? fuckin' no doubt was on the top 10

anyway here's the rest of it

No wonder they are giving away a bunch of records to sign up. The only one on this list I would definitely want is Keith Whitley.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking it was smart to secure a bunch of sign-ups before announcing these. Sublime and Kacey are probably the only ones that will attract new subscribers

Personally I’m excited by that Keith Whitley, too.

Mathers?

Ha! I had the same exact thought. They’re probably sitting on a shit ton of inventory too and need to make room for other records to take their place.
I wonder if they’re planning warehouse space at their new plant? Or at least something more in the area? That’d be another reason to move a bunch of backstock now.
