Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

You know what, i think this is the main reason we have not received any more clues. They realized that we're already pissed off and if they tell us it's not even GFK it will only piss us off even more lol. You'd think they would just announce it to make people keep their sub. I would renew for 1 month if it was GFK. If it's not it better be some really dope shit to be worth the money.
TBH, if it's Apollo Kids that's not really that salivating of a choice. Don't get me wrong, it's a very solid album. But not one that I would jump back into the pool for. Heck, my three month doesn't end till after next month, so I'm already in as a member; but now I'm not so sure it is worth the bump to $33 as an add-on (YMMV). Again, it's a great album but I feel something like Ironman, Supreme Clientele (of course), Fishscale, or even The Pretty Toney Album would be hooks much more difficult to swim away from.

For me Apollo Kids would be the only thing to get me to renew. I already have Ironman and we know SC is impossible. I have a feeling it's something random like Wu-Massacre lol

I'm at... Apollo Kids is a grab at $23. Apollo Kids is a looooong look at $33. And it's pretty much gunna be like this for everything now. That's gunna cut out a LOT of peoples extra purchases from all 3 subs.

Yes, I have Ironman as well, but there are certain albums I'd take another copy of. Yea, I'm on the fence on Apollo Kids for sure. I've been giving it some extra listens lately to try and be honest with myself about how much I'd spin it vs how much it would just be feeding the problem of collecting for the sake of collecting. I've got a full 4x4 Kallax and about halfway through another 5x5; plus I buy CDs and SACDs. Really, at this point I'm just trying to type myself out of buying it lol.

This for sure. When the add-ons were $23 it took very little convincing for me to grab something I was on the fence about. At $33 the winds have changed and I'm teetering in the other direction.

Since the price hike came to fruition I dont even care anymore and thats a tough thing for me to feel about a potentially excellent wu related album that I may not already have. They have taken the fun out of it now

Super agree. I wish I didn't love Apollo Kids so much lol

Man, I hope I don't reach that level of collecting but I think eventually I might lol. I told myself early on to only purchase albums I absolutely love or really enjoy. So far it's going good. hopefully it stays that way.

Never buy music you barely enjoy. It's a waste of your money and shelf space.

Unlike storf buyin every stax record that exists, I spent the covid shutdown cleaning out my junk and using the money to buy grailz. I highly recommend it

Don't get me wrong - this is years and years of collecting, not something I did overnight; but all those years add up. And I have the budget that I can buy grails when I'd like. It's less the money and more the shelf space I covet. I'm pretty good about not spending too much, and if you've seen me post anywhere else about financial responsibility....I always pay myself first (i.e. I save and invest before I spend).

I've never really bought anything I "barely enjoy"; but I could definitely lighten my load without missing some of them. I've got a list of items to unload put together for when I get back from overseas.

So what do you guys do when you fill your current space? I am trying to figure out how I am going to maintain my alphabetical order while expanding my space. Currently almost filled a 2x2 Kallax and 4 s crates. Assuming I will just add 50% capacity and take 1/3 from each "box" and move it to the next and so on. Just curious how others attack this "problem" haha.

It becomes more and more of an issue the more LPs ya add. I am at around 1,200 give or take and every now and then I have to readjust things ideally leaving enough room in each section to easily add a few more so ya won’t have to do a readjustment again for a while. I am backed up right now.

I have attacked this problem so many times it hurts. Essentially, exactly as you said.

Put the new shelving in, do some basic math (how many total albums do you have, and how many "cubes" or shelf areas do you have) - then divide accordingly, and shift around so they still stay A-B-C.

Good luck! There's been a few times that I literally grabbed a pen and paper and diagramed this out so I didn't fuck it up in the middle of shifting stuff.
